There is in me a strange perception of how best to classify the music of Magnum. Certainly not easy
Heavy Metal/ Hard Rock. Also because is very refined music. This is not the point, in hindsight.
Therefore there is something very intriguing in compositions by Tony Clarkin who must be assimilated
only by listening to and studying them. An example is "Lonesome Star", a B side. How to
define "Lonesome Star"? is very difficult not to call it a prog song. But where to place it exactly? Not an
easy task. But Magnum is one of the first "Class Metal" bands, that is the kind of bands that mix
different genres of music in a powerful and Hard Rock. In Magnum music is predominant in the
element Proggy of music, which, however, will be beveled over the years. Therefore I am led to
declare that "Vintage Magnum" is an excellent example of Compilation of Progressive music. What, if
desired, can be inserted in Neo Prog sub genre.
