Explore, expand and express your creative potential

The College of Fine, Performing and Communication Arts (CFPCA) is home to a diverse community of actors, designers, fine artists, musicians, composers, filmmakers, journalists, dancers, communicators and scholars. Our programs provide pathways for learning, growth and career success. From performing on Detroit's stages and interning at local television stations to creating art with youth in the community, CFPCA students have an unparalleled opportunity to apply their classroom learning to the world around them.

On campus, we host a living-learning community in the Thompson; arts and performance studios; the Elaine L. Jacob and Community Arts galleries; our campus station, WAYN Radio; a student newspaper, The South End; and MetroArts Detroit, a TV program produced with Detroit Public Television. In 2022, we will debut our state-of-the-art theatre, the Hilberry Gateway, and the Gretchen Valade Jazz Center — highly-anticipated facilities that will anchor the performance community in Midtown and offer exceptional opportunities to create, perform and learn.
