Westlake High School Reviews
Rating 4.23 out of 5 535 reviews
The best part of Westlake High School hands down is the commitment to excellence. There truly is something for every single student to get involved in whether they know it or not and the teachers and staff are passionate about helping students reach their highest potential. The most challenging part of attending Westlake High School is the culture. It is a very competitive and harsh environment among the students and it can be difficult to find your place in the school. Those who are fortunate enough to find where they belong in the school probably describe Westlake as a great place, but those who struggle to find that place can endure a tough 4 years. I would like to see a more inclusive environment where groups can overlap and not have to stay in their own corners.
As a junior i’ve experienced so much at Westlake. Most of the teachers and staff are super helpful and have made me more successful as a student. There is a lot of academic pressure due to the academic rigor of the school and this can be pretty stressful especially during junior year. So many people go to great colleges and do amazing things so it’s only natural that people who attended Westlake feel pressure to do similar things like peers before them. I think the school is pretty good with trying to make things inclusive but I feel getting involved in a club is not as accessible as it may seem and many students can feel uncomfortable getting involved in clubs based on who is in leadership positions for them.
I've really enjoyed my experience here. There is a lot of school pride, especially surrounding football, and the student body is big enough for me to be constantly meeting new people!
