This disc captures is a great live performance with the added bonus of a commentary track, extra songs from the sound check (nothing second rate or second class about them) and a documentary. For Christy fans it is a joy to have record of him working so well, for newcomers or even those just interested in great live performances this dvd is well above average,
I first came across Christy in the early Nineties and saw him live soon after at the Albert Hall. Solo, just a man and a guitar, he more than filled that huge room with sound and - more importantly - charm and emotion. I've been hooked since, but not always totally convinced by his studio albums. Live shows seem to bring out the best in him and this oh so brilliantly made dvd of a recent concert in Dublin captures the magic.
These days he performs with long time friend and associate Declan Sinnot who is one of those quiet, unassuming looking types that pulls all kinds of emotion from a guitar, seemingly without even trying. Combined with Christy's voice and commitment to every line it is a beautiful sight and sound.
Sound quality is top notch and the filming and editing intimate but never intrusive.
I earnestly hope he goes on playing for decades to come, but as this is - as far as I can tell - the only film of him live, it is appropriately a very good record of a great live performance.
If your a fan of Christy you'll love this. If your not a fan you will be converted. Recorded live at the Point depot in Dublin the DVD is essentailly edited highlights of the the 4 nights of shows Christy performed with his long time musical partner, Declan Sinnott. It shows the man at the pinnacle of his career performing a wide range of songs with passion and conviction. It also gives us a glimpse of his more vulnerable side. The man has been in the game for 40+ years and is awe inspiring especially when you consider he's eligible for his free bus pass.
The DVD contain 20 songs from the concert, some songs from the soundcheck and a short 20 min documentary. In the documentary he talks about how singing a song is the only way he can get out of it any more, how he needs the audience to deliver a performance and how the meaning of song can be revealed as he sings them. Wise words from a wise man.
5.0 out of 5 starsChristy and Declan in rare form!

I've been a Christy Moore fan since I first heard "Christy Moore & Friends", an audio cassette that I picked up decades ago. I've since steeped myself in his music, owning every recording, seeing him whenever I can (which truth be told has not been much lately!) "Live In Dublin" brought Christy and Declan to my livingroom in a small town in Arizona - and for awhile I felt I'd crossed the puddle to Dublin. Mercy, what a terrific recording! The performances are moving and sturdy, the songlist satisfying, and Christy's voice is note perfect! Nice that they left the between song patter intact and amazing that they've included a spoken commentary by Christy about the show. I was concerned that the PAL format might not play on my DVD player, but my fears were unfounded. It was fine both on the player in my livingroom, and on the one in my Mac Mini. If you are a fan, this will be a great addition to your collection. If you are new to Mr. Moore's music, this is a great place to start.
Christy Moore writes great songs and some of his best are on this DVD. It is a real pleasure to see him perform as he obviously enjoys the gig and the crowd. Having the CD of the concert, which I have enjoyed for some time, made this more enjoyable as I had never seen him play. This DVD will stay close to the player and will be used more than most.
This is a feast for fans of Christy and Declan BUT buyers beware: it is identical to "Christy Moore - Live at the Point"! Don't make the mistake I made and end up with two identical DVDs in slightly different covers with slightly different titles.
