      What to Know

      Critics Consensus

Saw II is likely to please the gore-happy fans of the original, though it may be too gruesome for those not familiar with first film's premise.

      J. R. Jones Chicago Reader The original provided some genuinely creepy moments despite an increasingly absurd story line; the equally silly sequel defuses much of its tension... Jun 28, 2022 Full Review Jordan Crucchiola New York Magazine/Vulture If you've bought into the Saw movies, II ups the violence without totally jumping the shark, and is a worthy follow-up to the original. Oct 27, 2017 Full Review Empire Magazine Rated: 3/5 Apr 1, 2006 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Bousman and writer Leigh Whannell construct their version of a skewed morality play where Jigsaw's devices pull “guilty” victims apart like shredded beef in a crockpot. This is empty-headed stuff, with little thought behind its cruel philosophy. Rated: 1/4 Oct 11, 2023 Full Review Joe Lipsett Horror Queers Podcast Easily one of the best Saw sequels. More focus on Shawnee Smith's Amanda, more Dina Meyer and a nice little ACAB message against Wahlberg's garbage cop. Plus: the needle pit is great! Rated: 4/5 Sep 29, 2023 Full Review Shaun Munro Flickering Myth Saw II deepens the series' mythology without desperately over-extending itself... In fact, it's one of the better second entries from any big-hitter horror franchise. Rated: 3.5/5 May 20, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Gianvito A Better than the first one Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/06/24 Full Review Pixi S Michael and Daniel were so pookie bear 1827382372937/10 Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/03/24 Full Review Tokyo 2 It has a lot more action and not as boring sometimes as the first Saw movie, really enjoyed the watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/25/24 Full Review Ryan B The 2nd installation of Saw is stuck between the unique simplicity of the original and the twists, turns and gore of the installations to come. As such it suffers. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/27/24 Full Review Thomas K it's not a notable sequel, but I can be satisfied to see the puzzler games regain the upper hand. the film is based on teamwork between kids, and not individual games between 2 people. The atmosphere is less inviting than that of the director, because the film focuses on the figure of the antagonist who tries in the same way both to save the victims and to place their character in a single formative nucleus. The ending didn't convince me, because the acting atmosphere dropped in a fatal way. The rest just left me with my eyes almost asleep. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review George X Smart, Gruesome, full of action the best performance from Tobin Bell/Jigsaw yet and a worthy sequel..... Oh and...there will be blood...
