Upon Arrival

  • Sign in at reception. Walk diagonally across the netball courtyard to the Junior School Office and collect the register from the ring binder which is stored in front of the window. The register must be returned to this folder at the end of the session.

  • Go to the computing lab and await the arrival of the pupils.

  • The pupils will arrive carrying their Surface Pros. These will be plugged into their monitor at their stations.

Register

Collect from the Junior School Office at the start of the session and return it to the office at the end of the session.

Logging on

Login details should be written on the pupils’ Progress Diaries. Please ensure pupils record all login details on the Progress Diary - Cadet Hub login, Scratch login, Trinket login.

During the Session

  • Pupils will be working their way through their learning pathways on the Cadet Hub. Their Progress Diaries are stored in one of the cupboards at the back of the room, behind the teacher’s desk. They are in a white envelope.

  • The IT team is situated in a room beside the Computing Lab and can be asked for assistance if there are any problems with the devices.

  • Be aware of the noise level in the room and ask children to be quiet when needed. Pupils have been warned that if they need spoken to about behaviour then their tutor will place a dot on their Progress Diary and their teacher will be informed. We operate a 3 dots and out policy.

  • Please ensure that all pupils are engaged in a meaningful activity. All pupils should be working towards receiving their next badge and keeping their Progress Diaries up to date.

End of session

  • Pack up 20 minutes before the end of the session - 4.25 pm. This amount of time is needed as the pupils must take their Surface Pro’s back to the classroom (upstairs) and plug them in for charging.

  • Ensure children tuck chairs in, leave monitors straight and room tidy.

  • Please go with the children back to the Surface Pro charging room. It is important that the devices are plugged back in for charging, please don’t just leave them lying.

  • Once the devices have been plugged in for charging, take children down to the back garden gate, ensure children hold on to the railing as they go down the stairs.

  • Upon reaching the garden gate, unlock the padlock on the chain, the padlock combination number is written on the register. Line children up along the wall. Parents will be waiting at the gate. Parents will come forward and child will tell you that they see their parent/person. Shake hand with child and wish them a good day.

  • ENSURE CHILDREN GO AWAY ONLY WITH A KNOWN ADULT.

  • ONCE THE CHILDREN ARE AWAY, IT IS ESSENTIAL THAT THE GATE IS PADLOCKED AGAIN - WRAP THE CHAIN AROUND THE GATE TWICE BEFORE LOCKING WITH THE PADLOCK.

  • Never leave a child alone. If no-one has come to collect the child, take them to reception desk and let someone know.

  • Return register to the folder in the Junior School Office.

  • Sign out at reception.

Children should be working on

1 May 2024 - children are working on their learning pathways on the Cadet Hub. Some are building their own websites (mostly pupils sitting at the front of the room), others are doing Scratch activities, however, there are a few pupils who are still choosing a block coding game. This is fine if the pupil is new to the club, but there are some who should by now have moved on from block coding. Please keep an eye on those pupils.
