I remember when this film came out and saw in theater. It was a very strange and off the wall then and still is but even better so many years ago. The whole premise is that people will do anything for money and there are so many ways that are shown. From a different take on the stage actor doing the lines of To Be or Not to Be to the elimination of a ticket by a police officer. The Magic Christian is Peter Sellers at his best with so many voices and personas while Ringo Starr is so much fun to watch. Also included are severals songs by the group Badfinger while one of the numbers is written by The Beatles and a stiring Thunderclap Newman Something in the Air towards the end of the film. I had forgotten how funny The Magic Christian is.

The Peter Sellers character was just being mean to absolute strangers for no good reason. There were a few memorable gags. The scene with Rachael Welch will live on in my dreams. Very low production values. It seemed like it was made on the fly. It was like a series Monty Python skits very loosely held together with common theme: "You can get people will do anything for enough money"

Fun movie with plenty of black humor. Peter Sellers is at his best and Ringo is in one of his first non-Beatle films (this is the film he was making during Get Back). There are a ton of cameos including a great scene with John Cleese, another with Graham Chapman, both pre-Python. Spike Milligan is there, Richard Attenborough and many many more, even Yul Brynner shows up. it's almost a game of spot the cameo! (Also try to spot look-alikes of John and Yoko on the boat!)

Great use of music, with the Paul McCartney theme song done by Badfinger and also woven in and out of the movie in strings and other instruments. There are other well placed Badfinger songs plus those of other bands.

The movie gets progressively twisted as it goes along. The main theme of people doing anything for money is almost more relevant today then it was back then. All and all a fun movie.

I think this is my very first one-star review for Amazon.

I saw this movie in the theater when it came out in 1969. I probably saw it only because it had a Beatle in it (Ringo). I seem to recall enjoying it at the time, but it definitely has not worn well over the years. No, indeed. Infantile humor (or perhaps "humour", considering how very British this production is), the barest outline of a plot (it resembles nothing so much as a "worst of" collection of really bad SNL skits), and no acting whatsoever. The cast certainly phoned in their performances for this one - perhaps they were all too aware of how utterly stupid the thing was. But all of that would have been forgivable were the finished product in some way actually entertaining. But sadly, it is not. Watching it is like rubbernecking a traffic accident from the opposite lanes. I could not even finish it. I'm actually considering tossing out the copy I bought. I know for a certainty that I'll never attempt a second viewing, so for now it's just taking up space in my collection.
