Kevin Carr 7M Pictures This prequel of a prequel is an equal let-down. Rated: 2.5/5 Jan 5, 2014 Full Review Paul Chambers CNNRadio Hard core action fans might give it a play. For the rest of us, "Death Race 2" runs out of gas before it even gets started. Paul Chambers, CNN. Rated: D Jan 22, 2011 Full Review James O'Ehley Sci-Fi Movie Page A pointless prequel to an unnecessary remake . . . and you still don't score points by running over as many pedestrians as you can! Jan 18, 2011 Full Review Brian Orndorf BrianOrndorf.com Lumbering and a too permissive with the limited actors, but the sequel/prequel has a few moments of mouthbreathing excitement. How did Frankenstein come to be? Who really cares, but at least it provides a few clenched-fist jolts. Rated: C Jan 17, 2011 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...a worthless, especially egregious cash-grab designed to capitalize on the (mild) notoriety of its predecessor. Rated: 1/4 Jan 17, 2011 Full Review Scott Weinberg FEARnet Hey, action films like Inception only come around every once in a while. We have to watch something! sam w It's violent and bloody action packed entertainment, but not really in a good way. The film looks cheap with sloppy fight scenes and mediocre special effects. The premise is laughable and has weak and lazy writing and acting, even considering the relatively famous support cast. The choppy editing style briefly adds to the carnage but quickly gets annoying and although the cars look the part, the whole TV show style just makes it seem cheap. The ending is just ridiculous and completely built around setting up the next in the series, resulting in a very poor and severely underwhelming finale. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I don't get the bad comments on this movie. It's pretty cheap action movie but it has violence and a little bit thinking behind the plot that made it quiet good. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/27/23 Full Review Liam D Apart from a delightful hammy performance by Sean Bean (Kingsglaive: Final Fantasy XV, Far North) it's a fairly standard direct to DVD sequel but it is better than 2008's Death Race Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/20/22 Full Review justin t Nicely shot; excellent sound; nuff said on that! Rather poor concept, totally unoriginal. Overly stylised which distracted from the concept but dazzled the eyes and ears. Not as good as the first as it was missing that big lorry. There were some cool stunts but they were all in slow motion with crazy sound design which kinda worked but was so stylised that it was a bit distracting. It looked and sounded pretty but there was nothing under the hood. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This film is a follow-up to the 2008 flick minus the budget and heart of the 2008 Death Race. The setting is interesting and the tracks and cars are pretty clever but even that doesn't save it from the bad acting and terrible dialog. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member The film manages to do what it intends to despite a lot of nonsense in the script.
