Psychoanalysis is a type of therapy that not only gives relief from depression, anxiety, and other problems, but also helps people know more about themselves, and make better choices in life. Psychoanalysts work to help people get to the root of their problems by listening to them in new ways, and paying attention to peoples’ memories, fears, dreams, desires, and feelings about relationships, so they can understand how these events are important in their lives. Psychoanalysts are trained to work closely with the client in gaining a deeper understanding about the client’s life, and to discover and create the possibility for more satisfying relationships, and to heal from the harm caused by past and present traumas. Psychoanalysts have been through Psychoanalysis themselves, and they know what it is like to work through emotions and things in life that are hard to face.
