With COVID-19 cases rising in San Antonio and Bexar County, more residents are scheduling appointments to get tested.

On Thursday, San Antonio officials confirmed 408 new cases of the novel coronavirus and two more fatalities, bringing Bexar County’s death toll from the pandemic to 92.

In response to the COVID-19 surge, the city is increasing testing and contact tracing efforts. Contact tracing seeks to determine how a person became infected and to identify all the people he or she interacted with, so they can be tested and quarantined if necessary.

The city also amended its local COVID-19 testing criteria to make testing more accessible to the community. According to the city's website, testing for COVID-19 is available to anyone with or without symptoms and walk-up Testing Events are available to the first 175 people who arrive.
