I absolutely love Wesleyan. I just finished up my freshmen year here, and I cannot wait to go back already. The people you will meet are all so sweet and so kind, they truly make the school perfect. Professors are usually pretty easy to contact and kind, and if not, you can find a way to manage because it is never that bad. On top of that, the academics are great, and the connections are resources are great. Being at a small school like Wes means you might not have a million alumni collections, but there are just enough to go into just about anything. I think that it being small too is helpful for networking since it's a more personal and intimate environment. Middletown is super cutesy, and even though you are in a bit of a bubble, I wouldn't trade it for anything.
I definitely feel like I fit in more here than anywhere else I have been. It's been pretty easy to make and maintain friendships, as well as find opportunities.
Cant throw a party without public safety shutting it down, and even if you register your party they will still come. If you don't go to a class for throwing parties at the beginning of the year you are out of luck in terms of having any sort of gathering. Public safety will not allow houses close together to register for the same nights or days, then shut you down when there are too many people because there's only one place to go. The professors at Wesleyan have gone downhill since 2020, there are only a few professors that have actual experience remaining, and the housing is comical for the price of this institution. Not sure why the food is graded highly either, nothing special by any means. Public safety would rather ticket students parking in their own driveways than actually keep the public safe, there are car break-ins and vandalization almost on the daily in the Wesleyan owned parking lots. Maybe 5 of the senior houses have air conditioning, and you cant bring your own ac unit
The professors and academic programs at Wesleyan are truly unmatched. It was challenging at first to adjust to the social scene, but once you get used to Wes students you'll be consistently amazed by how much everyone does.
Current student — I can say I am thrilled so far with my time at Wesleyan. Professors and classes are amazing, the people are great, the campus is beautiful, and the school is in a nice place where I can feel like I can focus on my studies but still make my way to Boston/NYC by train quite easily. Also, the open curriculum is very freeing and exciting — there are too many interesting classes and I can't take them all. As for getting into classes I want, I have had no trouble. If they fill up, I can usually email or talk to a professor to express interest in joining; just make sure to be on top of planning for courses and it won't be an issue. Overall, I have had a fantastic classical liberal arts experience, although challenging at times, and I can't wait for my upcoming semesters.
I had a pretty good experience here. I was a freshman during COVID, but Wes made the academic part of my education happen and I appreciated how serious they took the pandemic.
Overall, my four-year experience at Wesleyan University was pleasant. The campus and student body are small which made the atmosphere amicable and peaceful most of the time. Most classes are small, so it isn’t difficult to form connections with professors and classmates. Major electives often have a limited amount of seats, so many underclassmen (even some upperclassmen) have a rough time getting into their top choices for classes. Undergraduate research opportunities with faculty can be challenging to get into, so it would be great if more research labs were opened and/or if the university would grant more funding to current labs to allow them to accept more undergraduate research assistants. The progression to more independent living options over your four years as an undergraduate is a great experience. However, majority of the residences are outdated with no air conditioning or ceiling fans, heating that often malfunctions, leaky pipes and faucets, etc.
Wesleyan has provided me with incredible resources, including professors and peers. I am surrounded by multidisciplinary/interdisciplinary people who open my eyes and inspire me in all my pursuits and aspirations. As someone interested in many fields across the sciences, arts, and beyond, I have a plethora of knowledge and engagement at my fingertips to help me navigate my educational and post-graduation path.
Wesleyan is a place where anybody, really, can flourish. While there is certainly a very artistic community and if you are somebody who enjoys art (whether that be music, theater, painting, drawing, sculpture making, film, etc.) you will certainly find no shortage of people who share your interests and also things to do, there are also opportunities for all types of people at Wesleyan.
I have only attended Wesleyan University for one semester but I can already tell I will enjoy my next 4 years here. I have found so many great people including the professors, students and other workers on campus. Everyone is very inviting and it has made the transition from high school to college a lot easier. I am on the wrestling team and have found the athletics, not just wrestling, to build connections between all athletes. Everyone is very motivating and helpful for whatever it is that you choose to do.
Close-knit community.
Very helpful professors and advisors.
Wish there was more support for low-income international students especially during breaks. Not to say they are not trying though.

I was a transfer student, entering in my junior year, and made the right choice. Fellow students were passionate about their studies, politically engaged, and embracing of all types. Professors were very accessible and supportive, during my time at Wes as well as after graduation as I moved on toward graduate school. Subsequently, I've mentored and hired numerous alums over the years -- they always impress me as hardworking, inquisitive, respectful and well-prepared for life.
My overall experience was fantastic. I would have liked to do less work-study hours and instead focus on my major at the time, but that was the game.
I know now they have started better scholarship initiatives, so there is hope for the future.

I loved my time there. I met some of the best friends of my life and it was such a pleasure to learn both in the classroom and outside of it.
Very friendly professors and staff, warm alumni, but limited amount of FA for international students
Good school. Enjoyed my time there. Economics program was not my favorite. College of the Environment was great.
I have really loved my first-year experience at Wes. From the open curriculum to the vibrant student body I feel I have really been given a collaborative, supportive environment to truly learn. The community at Wesleyan is what makes it stand out, from the student body to the professor I have never met such inquisitively brilliant individuals. One thing that I would love to see change at Wes is the wealth disparity within the student body. I have observed the prevalence of the wealth disparity between high and low-income students within student culture and working to bring more awareness and diversity on this front.
I love that the faculty is very accessible and it's a small intimate campus. As a veteran, I would love to see a veterans resource center on campus.
Excellent professors and passionate, inquisitive students. First rate network organization after gradation. Wesleyan sincerely cares about its students before and graduation.
An awesome experience in every way - great independent study programs and opportunities to study overseas. Ended up in NYC working for a dance company one year, then interning at Rockefeller University the next year - couldn't have happened anywhere else...
