Calcutta University (CU) offers UG, PG, Doctoral, Diploma, and Certificate courses in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Engineering, Management, Law, etc. Admissions at Calcutta University are done in two categories, i.e., Part ‘A’ for CU Candidates and Part ‘B’ for Non-CU candidates. The university offers admission to 80% of seats for CU candidates (Part ‘A’) and 20% for non-CU candidates. Calcutta University conducts an entrance test for admission to 20% of seats in PG courses for non-CU candidates (Part ‘B’).
Admissions to UG courses such as BA, B.Sc, and B.Com are based on marks secured in the qualifying examination. Calcutta University PG admissions including MA, M.Sc, M.Com, B.Ed, LLM are based on entrance examination (for Part ‘B’ candidates) or marks secured in the qualifying examination (for Part ‘A’ candidates) followed by a personal interview. Calcutta University PG Admissions 2024
Calcutta University offers admission to MA, M.Com, M.Sc, MBA, MCA, MTech, B.Ed, B.Lib.Sc, M.Li.Sc, M.Ed, and LL.M in multiple disciplines in the fields of Arts, Science, Commerce, Law & Education at postgraduate level. The basic eligibility for PG courses is a pass in a Bachelor’s degree in the relevant disciplines.
Admissions to PG courses are offered in two categories, i.e., Part ‘A’ for CU Candidates and Part ‘B’ for Non-CU candidates. 80% of total seats are earmarked for CU students (Honours Graduates of CU including Autonomous Colleges affiliated to CU will be considered in Part – “A” ) and admission to 20% of seats will be offered in Part “B” (Honours Graduates of other Universities (Non-C.U.).
Selection for Part “A” candidates will be based on marks secured in the qualifying examination, while Part “B” candidates are required to appear for an entrance test conducted by the university.

Calcutta University Ph.D. Eligibility Criteria
For admission into PhD at CU, candidates must have a Postgraduate Degree in a relevant discipline with at least 55% (50% for reserved categories).
Calcutta University Ph.D. Selection Process
Admission to Ph.D. at CU is done on the basis of score in the Written Test followed by Research Proposal & an interview. Getting into Calcutta University for your post graduation is really really tough. Since I took admission during the covid 19 period hence no entrance were conducted . We had to fill an online form and based on our merit from the score of graduation several lists were published. And the seats were limited and lakhs and lakhs of students filled the form hoping to get the opportunity to study in the biggest state University at nominal cost and scholarship as well. If you are a graduate from Calcutta University then the process is this. But I'm not sure about the students who come from different university to do post graduation in Calcutta University.

- The professors are very cooperative and they teach in such a manner that even the mediocre students can understand the subjects.
- No such partiality towards the topper students. Equal opportunity for all students

- The environment. It's more or less political and every other day rallies were conducted
- Sometimes the question used to come out of syllabus
Admission:
The admission procedure was simple. We had to fill an online form and the eligible criteria was 65% in boards exam for general candidate and 50% in boards exam for St/sc/obc candidates. There were no such admision test or entrance examination. If you are short listed then your name would pe published in the first list and then if people selected in the first list don't take admission that seat will be given to people waiting in the second and third list. And the second and third list students will have to compete for the seats as it will be then first time first basis. In my opinion there should be an entrance examination for admission.

- There are campus placements for the students. Various companies like Big4, TCS , and many other companies are there for placement.
- The campus atmosphere is awesome. There is swimming pool canteen.
Dislikes
- We cannot take books our own books in library.
- Not many events are conducted in our college. No fest also has been conducted during my graduation period
Admission:
The admission process is very simple. All you need is to fill up the form by visiting the college website and pay admission form fees. You need to wait until the merit list is out. Almost 4 merit list is being shortlisted by the college. No entrance exam is being conducted by the college. Admission is done purely on the basis of your 12th marks. The cut off is also very low i.e around 70%. There is a reservation benefit for only Kolkata students. They must have the certificate that they reside in Kolkata. The semester exams are conducted in an interval of 6 months that is twice a year. The passing percentage for semester exam is 35%-40% and the exam level is moderate.

- The canteen is quite small to hold the crowd during lunch
- Some washrooms are unuseable due to the unhygienic conditions
Admission:
You'll have to score 55% to be able to fill out the form and then based on the merit list you'll be selected but keep in mind your score should be above 80% because Bethune is a highly demanding college and as far as my knowledge goes only toppers study here and I am not joking at all I have friends who are West Bengal rankers so be thankful if you get your chance here

- Teaching, tho it's a girls college and it doesnot conduct events like others but I can say in terms of teaching I'm pretty satisfied. Most of the teachers are highly knowledgeable and clear all your doubts regarding the subject.
- Not compulsory attendance, as others colleges my college doesn't have compulsory attendance. I know most of my friends who were doing CA and didn't came college often due to their classes. Teachers never force them to maintain their attendance.
Dislikes
- Events, one of the main thing I miss in my college is that it don't conduct events. They told us that they will conduct events like concerts and more but sadly we didn't say anything sign of concert or any events in my three year college life.
- Campus. On this one I can say it's not the college fault as most of the colleges of Kolkata doesn't have much space. But yeah it would be nice if we have a beautiful campus like other colleges so we can chill there in our break time.
Admission:
Its not that tough to take admission in here I guess you have to score 70+ percentage in your 12th . If you have pretty good percentage like 90+ you can easily get admission and your name will come in the first cutoff list. But if you have 70+ then you have to wait for few times till your name come in the list. But eventually you'll get accepted. Do check the cutoff before taking admission in the college website.

- Our college has small campus so it's bit chaotic for students.. because of the small campus becomes over crowded during any fest or students get together
- Its a big task for students to find something good to eat because in our college the canteen is very unhygienic and small which leads mess

The process of addmission was very simple and the whole procedure done online. My course eligibility was 70%. Who needs any kind of reservation they can easily availed it. The suggestion which I can give it would be to improve glitches in the addmission procedure cause someone of the students has faced issue

The entrance exam is called WBJEE. You can give the exam after completing your higher secondary course . Yes for SC and ST students there is some reservation benefits. No improvement is required for the admission process

- The campus is so beautiful and a calm place to focus on studies. The whole campus is full of trees and also well maintained.
- There are several buildings where each building contains 3-4 departments, a big auditorium, different libraries for science and arts subjects.
Dislikes
- Libraries need an upgradation with new launched books which might help the students with their semester studies otherwise there are a lot of good old and high-level books

They take admission with the marks of 12th board exam. In my time around 85-90 percentage was sufficient for admission. Yes reservation benefits are available. Timing of exams were super hectic and the difficulty level wasn't easy at all in my subject it was moderate to tough sometimes.
