The passing of composer, arranger, keyboardist, producer and general good man about soul, REGINALD “SONNY” BURKE has been announced. His brother, Kirkland broke the sad news and little is known of the circumstances, save that Sonny was aged 76. Kirkland posted “It is with a broken heart that I have the sad duty to inform you my big brother Reginald W. Burke, known professionally as Sonny Burke, made his transition, last night, Monday. Funeral arrangements are pending”.
Sonny Burke was one of soul’s great backroom boys and in his career he worked with a long list of soul luminaries – people like the Temptations, Smokey Robinson and Dusty Springfield. He also worked on TV and film scores.
