SPPU redesigns 45-hr online basic course on Modi script
Pune: A 45-hour course on Modi script will be conducted by the history department of Savitribai Phule Pune University hopes to focus on the script, its historical contexts and references, use in official documents related to revenue, justice, economics and other fields.
Applications have been invited for the course. Head of the history department Shraddha Kumbhojkar said that the course has been running for 10 years now but this year they revised the syllabus and have already received 10 applications.
The last date to apply is February 6 and the course will begin on February 12.
Stating that this course has nothing to do with the Maratha reservation issue where the documents mostly in Modi script were being scrutinised to check the veracity of the reservation claim, Kumbhojkar said that the response to this course has been tremendous always as in 2020, the intake had to be increased from 50 to 250 due to the rush of applications.
Kumbhojkar also said that the syllabus and nomenclature have been changed this year as more emphasis on understanding the historical relevance and deciphering historical context using the script has been added.
