I had pretty low expectations from this, but ultimately turned out to be quite an effective movie, melodrama and tear-jerk moments included.
This is going to be most resonant with parents, especially those with autistic children (screenwriter Tony Spiridakis has a personal connection to the story, as does De Niro who exec produced it), but even without that connection, I was taken in with this story of parents and children, and the tough choices that come with the territory, and the lengths they go to in trying to do the right thing for their children, or at least what they deem is right.
