Jareld is the brightest young scholar in the Kingdom. He prefers quiet libraries to the big, scary world. Why go there when you can read about there instead? But when he stumbles on a clue regarding the lost Sword of Kings, he’s given the worst assignment of his schooling: Find it, or fail out of the Academy. Soon, he’s caught up in an adventure dealing with life, death, magic, pirates, jesters, dragons, misunderstood women, and mud. But the greatest danger may be the treasure he seeks, for buried with the Sword there lies a secret that could tear the Kingdom apart.

Within the Hollow Crown is a fantasy story that uses wit, humor, and sarcasm to take you on a journey through a vast world. There's something for everyone in this book as the story follows several different characters. From unlikely librarian heroes to a brilliant swordswoman to a silver-tongued diplomat. You're sure to find a few characters you love. Also, if you're a fan of world building like me, you'll really enjoy this book. The Kingdom of Rone is vast and full of rich history. It's clear the author spent a lot of time creating this intricate world. I also really enjoyed the narrator. The author puts his own voice into this story and turns the narrator into a character of its own. You feel like he's your personal guide through Rone. It has a very similar feel to the Discworld series by Terry Pratchett. So, if you're in the mood for some epic fantasy and a lot of humor, this is the book for you. Just don't wear your good boots, there's mud everywhere. ;-)

I'm looking forward to the next book in the series.
