Sins of the father guide (finally beat it!!!!)

Achievement

I've been trying to beat the final boss for sotf for about a week now and I finally did it. I tried looking up guides on how to do it but as many of you have said there are not very many good guides. I don't know if I would call us more of a guide but hopefully someone in my position will appreciate this post someday and have a little easier time and save some GP.

Mechanics-

The first thing is you're going to have to do some practice runs to learn the mechanics. I am probably never going to be a great high level pvmer but honestly flinching was the best technique at least for the first part. Attack, wait for his attack, and then attack him and turn away 1 tile away so that you can avoid his Darkness special attack. But I would do it every time anyway even if he does the other two specials. Speaking of his specials I will outline them real quick. His Darkness special attack will be announced like the others with a line of text however you will most likely not be able to avoid it if you're already facing him because it's a pretty quick attack that's why I recommend flinching. The second attack although they don't really go in any order is his blood veld attack. He will summon a blood valve that if it touches you will explode causing massive damage. Bring some darts and switch quickly to one shot it. Finally he has his blood orb attack. Basically he summons a blood orb on one side of the courtyard in front of the castle AKA left or right of the front steps. Then I'm not sure what happens if you ignore it. But if you run into it it will explode causing massive damage or you can go around it but make sure you give it a wide area and The boss will run into it causing upwards of 30 damage.

Gear-

I'm sure this will vary for everyone but as I am not a very good pvmer I needed moderately high gear. I used most of the setup from the sotf guide. Just look up osrs sins of the father guide and go to the walkthrough and under a bloody show part of the walkthrough there is a picture of the setup. I had the exact same setup except for I switched out a brimstone ring for the Berserker ring for cost reasons. And I used an obsidian Cape because I have not yet completed the fight caves for a fire cape. And I'm going to be honest my stats were not great for this fight I had lower 80s magic and range upper 70s combat skills 70 prayer and 100 combat.

Inventory-

My inventory consisted of 3 prayer potions, one Divine combat potion, a stack of darts, and the rest manta rays. Someone will probably tell me I should have had a different set up but it finally worked after like 10 tries.

Tips and tricks (more mechanics)-

If you have the mory legs 3 I used them to quickly teleport to Burgh de Rott to take the boat to the graveyard to restart. I would take a sip of the combat potion at the Burgh de Rott Bank eat a monkfish to get back to full health and then fill the other inventory slot with another manta ray before taking off to fight. But I would still recommend bringing the Divine combat potion because it will expire before the fight ends. For the first phase my tip is again flinch which works pretty well. And of course hug the wall for the blood ball. As for Phase 2 I really don't know how I made it I had nothing left except for half of a prayer potion and 5 HP. I started off the fight by using piety and protect from Magic and that worked really well and I got through the first phase very quickly but I also used a lot of prayer and prayer potions and what always die with about a hundred to fifty hit points left on the boss whenever I prayed that way. I realized later I should probably be using melee protection prayer for the second half, but if you use piety as well you will have no prayer left if you bring three prayer potions. My advice if you're not a player who isn't tick perfect and will get hit by a few of his special attacks but not all of them or even most of them is 2 just pray Mage during the first part of the fight and maybe use piety near the end of the first phase to finish him off and then use piety and protect from melee during the second half and you should have enough. Of course if you can time it right with your character I suppose you could use piety halfway through when use just enough prayer points but I like to be safe rather than sorry. Another tip is that the special attacks come every 8 to 10 attacks apparently according to the guide so if you don't like flinching I would flinch after 6 normal attacks to reduce the click intensity. Finally during the second phase and his lightning round I would constantly be clicking on a square that does not have lightning build up on it since it can take you a couple seconds to realize you're standing on a lightning Square sometimes depending on what you're wearing. And Flinch Hand by clicking on a safe square and attacking clicking on a safe square and attacking and repeat, but make sure to keep an eye on your health you can still drain it pretty quickly even if you miss all the lightning.

I hope this helps I know I'm not by any means a low-level but I'm also not I finished account finally completing this Quest either. I hope I can help those hi to mid-level accounts like me who aren't manipulating ticks every stinking second and are just trying to enjoy a fun game from childhood. Have a great day whoever reads this!

One thing I found that helped was one tick eating with karambwans. It helps heal more in one tick when low so you can go back to looking for lightning indicators faster.

Yeah I just watched slayers guide i had no issues only got chaced once but I brought tik eats so I was ok

I would also like to add I was 90 all cmb stats when I did it and 99 mage probably mabe a big difference defensively

I don't know who the jerk is who's downvoting my thread but come on I'm just trying to help people there are are not a lot of decent guides especially text ones out there for this Quest that are very detailed like this.

No

You sad, strange little man - Buzz Lightyear

Ok lets pretend this boss is difficult

Difficulty is subjective, it's the fact that you have to be condescending about it when you could move on without saying anything.

Sorry not everyone has awesome internet like you pal, that's one reason this was so hard.
