I was staying at a resort nearby so I walked over to check this beach out. I put my things on a beach chair but was told it was $30 so I moved my stuff and made myself comfortable in the sand. I enjoyed watching the planes fly in. It was a cool experience and I definitely caught an adrenaline rush. There’s a few vendors and restaurants on site. My only complaint was I couldn’t find any place to rinse myself off after getting sand all over me.

Love the beach, love the different beach clubs, but as I couldn't find a lot of recent information about the nude side, I thought I'd share some information others might find helpful. One of our main reasons for selecting Orient Beach was the nude beach, but we ended up not spending more than one day in this section. As we have come to expect, the people are amazingly friendly and open and inviting, but there were some things that made us just opt to go and enjoy the topless option at the other clubs. Reasons:

    1. Beach loungers were not very comfortable. Plastic strapping chairs with no padding were very uncomfortable.
    2. Perch Lite bar was cash only. With no ATM's in the area whatsoever, this wasn't ideal.
    3. No table service, you had to trek up to the bar every time you wanted a drink or food. No idea if this is all the time, or because we were there for the beginning of the slow season, but no other clubs were self service.
    4. The beach goers feed the fish which is great for viewing, but it also means that anything small and protruding is going to be considered fish food. I got bit and it drew blood. Swimming isn't much fun if you have to fend off hungry fish. Other swimmers told similar stories. This was NOT the case at other areas of the beach, where presumably, people don't feed the fish.
    5. As we all know, nude beach-goers are usually on the older side (like us!) but this one seemed to have 85% of the patrons in their 70's, 80's and up. This is of course not a complaint, just pointing it out in case people are looking for people in their age group.

This review isn't meant to put anyone off, but help people make the decisions that are best for them.

Absolutely a must visit for any Star Wars fan and so much more. One of a kind displays, beautiful movie props from franchise other than just Star Wars but obviously focused on the Galaxy Far, Far Away. The owner helped create so many amazing memories and I honestly couldn’t stop smiling. The tour takes from half an hour to an hour but I could have spent all day in this once in a life time exhibit!

You can get to Pinel Island either on a boat, kayak or by ferry.  We took the Pinel Ferry out of Rue de cul de Sac, Saint Martin for $12 or 10 euros (cash only).  The ferry typically runs between 10 am and 4 pm daily and runs every 30 minutes.  However if the tides and winds bring heavy sargassum (grass) into the bay, the ferry may shut down as the grass clogs the inboard motors.  On the short ride to Pinel, you will pass to the right of a rocky island called Petite Clef.  Upon arrival you disembark this year onto a floating pier in front of Yellow Beach Restaurant.  You can rent chairs from that restaurant or you can walk to the left of the pier to the beach section associated with Karibuni Restaurant.  You can rent 2 chairs and an umbrella at both places for $25 per day (cash or credit).  Food and drinks are available for purchase with beach service at both places.  Storms had changed the beach and swimming area some, so the water depth this time was no deeper than 3 1/2'  in the roped swimming area.  There are several smaller beaches (stones) on the island that require hiking to.  I brought my own snorkeling gear, as there is no place to rent the gear on the island. Snorkeling was great this time over the grass beds between the floating pier and Petite Clef, seeing 2 spotted eagle rays, a large green turtle and many conchs. The side of Petite Clef that faces Orient Beach has many fans, corals and sponges covering the slope which drops to a depth of 20'.

What a great find. Our host Cristina was extremely knoligeable and informative. The rum tasting was the best I have ever been to. It's small boutique distillery but they manufacture over 20 plus different flavored Rum. We sampled many different flavored rums. I highly recommend it. They are also a restaurant which will definitely try next day or so. They also sell gelato which also is excellent. I cannot say enough good comments about it. We will definitely go back soon next time we are in the Island. Definitely try it you will not be dissapointed.

What a fun time. We walked in expecting to just see some beautiful birds on perches, but were pleasantly surprised to be interacting with them directly. This was a highlight during our week. Well worth the $10 charge. Good for all ages.

I opted not to take any excursions from the cruise ship, but head off on my own. So glad I did. I took the water taxi ($7 round trip) to Great Bay Beach. They offer water ($1), beer $3 and sodas for the 10-minute ride to the beach. Upon disembarking, I found a young man offering beach chairs and umbrellas ($15 for 1; $25 for 2). Includes wifi. And $5 for a rum punch. Great way to start!. He brought a menu later and I ordered the delicious Caribbean Ribs and a beer. Heavenly! The establishment is SXM Crazy Beach Bar. They take credit cards for orders over $20. Not big waves, but beautiful crystal water, soft white sand. We were the only cruise ship that day, so it was not crowded. I'm so glad I did this!

We stayed at the quaint Belair Beach Hotel right next door to the Divi resort. We shared the same beautiful beach, but we needed a suite to accommodate our family and also wanted to be beach front. Belair Beach checked those boxes for us and the staff was so friendly and accommodating. We’ll return to Belair for sure.

This excursion was so beautiful and fun, I highly recommend. We did the sunset ride and it was unforgettable. The guides were awesome, we got to play with the pig on the property, and the views on the train were unbelievable.

I think I’d rate Happy Bay Beach as one of the best beaches in the world. It’s remote. .8 miles from Friars’ Bay and not easy going. Today, horses were out on the narrow path, which caused some problems in both directions but, once there, there was a wonderful peace.

The water is easy to get into and out of. The beach is at least 300 yards wide with a bit of shade. There couldn’t have been more than 20 people during our visit. It is an “adult” beach so there may be nude or topless bathers or some, like us, who were in bathing attire.

But the beach is worth it for everyone.

Caution. Bring water. The walk can be dehydrating with temperatures in the 80’s.
