The Design Research BOF main audience typically includes
ethnographers, user experience researchers, usability and human factors engineers,
designers of user interfaces, and others who affect or are interested in product design.
Formed in September, 1998, this BOF was originally called Usability Engineering BOF.
In March 2012 it was renamed to Design Research BOF to better reflect the group's interest in all types
of research and work with users throughout the product lifecycle -
extending the focus beyond engineering usability to designing experiences.
Although BayCHI membership is encouraged, it is
not a requirement for participation in BayCHI BOFs.
