ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5x20 FILM ”Record of Memories”

ARASHI’s “first” live film “ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×20 FILM ‘Record of Memories’” was released in two formats, a 4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray version and a Blu-ray version on September 15, 2022, the anniversary of the band’s formation, through J Storm. The “Arashi Fan Club Members Only Edition,” which was available exclusively to the fan club members for pre-order through Johnny’s Online Store prior to July 4, 2022, includes five members' versions as bonus footage, edited to focus on each of the five members of ARASHI during the entire live performance.

The film, which premiered in Dolby Cinema on November 3, 2021 and opened nationwide on November 26, 2021, set the record for the “No. 1 Live Action Film” in the box office ranking of Japan’s theatrical films in 2021. Arashi’s 20th anniversary tour, “ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×20,” ran for over one year from November 2018 to December 2019, with a total of 50 concerts and a cumulative attendance of 2,375,000, the largest for a single artist’s tour in Japan’s entertainment history.

Without much details explained, a special “live-shooting” event exclusively open to the fan club members was held at Tokyo Dome on December 23, 2019. It was later when the purpose of the filming was announced for “ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×20 FILM ‘Record of Memories,’” which is Arashi’s first live performance film. In order to maximize the film quality of this film, which was also released in Dolby Cinema, it was released on “4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray,” the first in Arashi’s video products.

The film had an exceptional success in Japan, and even today encore screenings are frequently held all over Japan on special occasions such as Arashi members' birthdays or the band’s anniversaries, etc. Overseas, the film had its world premiere at the Shanghai International Film Festival in China and was released in Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Singapore, Malaysia, Indonesia, and Brunei in 2021. On March 22, 2022, one-day special screening events were held at AMC Theatres in the mainland U.S. and at Consolidated Theatres in Hawaii. Special screenings were also held in various theaters in Japan to celebrate the simultaneous U.S.-Japan screenings. In Korea, the film was screened at “Bucheon International Fantastic Film Festival” on July 9 and 13, 2022, and was shown to the public in September.

This album was sold in Japan on the “Furage-Bi(Prerelease purchase days)” two days prior to the official release date. Sales on the first day reached 321k copies, and it ranked No. 1 in the “Oricon Daily Blu-ray Disc Ranking” dated September 13, 14 and 15, 2022. On September 16, 2022, the official account of the film announced that the number of the film attendance reached 1.5 million.

嵐“初”のライブ・フィルム 「ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×20 FILM “Record of Memories”」は、4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray版とBlu-ray版の２形態で、嵐結成記念日の2022年9月15日にジェイ・ストームより発売された。なお、2022年7月4日までジャニーズオンラインストアで限定商品として予約販売された「嵐ファンクラブ会員限定版」には、Live全編において嵐の5人それぞれにフォーカスして編集された、5つのメンバーバージョンが特典映像として付いている。

2021年11月3日にドルビーシネマで先行公開され、11月26日より全国公開された同作品は、日本国内の2021年度劇場公開映画の興行収入ランキングでは「実写映画１位」の記録を打ち立てた。嵐20周年のツアー「ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×20」は、2018年11月から2019年12月まで1年以上にわたり、計50公演、単独アーティストのツアーとしては日本史上最大の累計237万5000人の動員を記録した。

2019年12月23日に東京ドームでファンクラブ会員限定で開催された「シューティングライブ」では、事前に詳細の説明はなく、のちにライブの模様が、嵐にとって初のライブ・フィルム 「ARASHI Anniversary Tour 5×20 FILM “Record of Memories”」として収録された事が明かされた。本作はドルビーシネマでも公開されたフィルムクオリティを最大限に活かすため、嵐の映像商品としては初となる「4K ULTRA HD Blu-ray」で発売された。

本作品は異例の大ヒットを記録し、現在でも嵐のメンバーの誕生日や記念日などの特別な日には、アンコール上映や応援上映などが日本各地で頻繁に開催されている。海外では、中国の上海国際映画祭でのワールドプレミアを皮切りに、2021年には、台湾 ･ 香港 ･ マカオ ･ シンガポール ･ マレーシア ･ インドネシア ･ ブルネイで公開された。2022年3月22日には、全米のAMC系列映画館とハワイの映画館で一日限りの特別上映が開催され、日本でも日米同時上映を祝う特別上映が各地で行われた。 韓国では、2022年7月9日および13日に「 富川国際ファンタスティック映画祭」にて上映され、９月には一般公開にて上映された。

本作は発売日前の「フラゲ日」から日本各地で発売が開始された。初日の売り上げは32.1万枚に達し、2022年9月13、14、15日付けの「オリコンデイリー Blu-ray Disc ランキング」で１位を獲得した。2022年9月16日には、映画の観客動員数が150万人に達成した事が公式アカウントより発表された。
