San Andreas Multiplayer

This repository is a project of reverse engineering the latest San Andreas Multiplayer (SA-MP) 0.3.7 and 0.3DL version, fix the well known bugs and add new features later on.

The progress

This project is still far from finished and/or stable state. You can check out the project's spreadsheets to see the progress of the repository. Be aware that the spreadsheet is incomplete. There might be more tasks to complete than it's listed.

How to compile it?

  1. Download and install Visual Studio from the Microsoft's website. [https://visualstudio.microsoft.com/] Visual Studio Community is recommended, it is free, but an account will be required to use. During the installation, it will prompt you to chose Workloads, and in the list, make sure Desktop development with C++ is checked. Everything else not needed to be changed. If something is missing, you can always add new components later in the IDE clicking on Tools -> Get Tools and Features.
  2. [optional] To compile the client, you also need to download and install the DirectX SDK, which is also available at the Microsoft's website. [https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=6812]
  3. Download the source by click on Code button and select Download ZIP and extract it anywhere you feel like.
  4. Run Visual Studio and in the Get Started group, click on Open a project or solution, then locate your extracted SA-MP source folder, open client or server what you want to compile, and in those folder you'll find an search for .sln (Visual Studio Solution) or .vcxproj (VC++ Project) and open one of it.
  5. Press F7 to build or click on the Build menu and Build Solution. Right after clicking on build, an Output window pops up, and when the compilation is done, in the output will tells you that it is 1 succeeded or failed. If the compilation succeeded, the samp.dll or server.exe can be found in the Debug or Release folder (depends on what have been defaulted to) inside the client or server what you have compiled.
  6. Before you copy the samp.dll to your GTA: San Andreas installation folder, make a copy of your currently installed SA-MP version, if there's available. It's not compatible with the SA-MP 0.3.7/0.3DL samp.saa or bass.dll. The compatible samp.saa can be found in ./SA-MP/archive/build folder, and bass.dll in ./SA-MP/nsis folder.
  7. Now you can launch the mod with any SA-MP Server Browser (samp.exe) or the Debug Launcher (samp_debug.exe). If it is a server, it is recommended to recompile every filterscripts and gamemodes with the included Pawno in the SA-MP folder, to disable natives that are not available, and different #define macros.
