Dune is a landmark science fiction novel first published in 1965 and the first in a 6-book saga penned by author Frank Herbert. Widely considered one of the greatest works within the sci-fi genre, Dune has been the subject of various film and TV adaptations, including the 2021-released film directed by Denis Villeneuve.
Clive Owen and Gary Oldman
As Duncan Idaho and Dr. Yueh would be so perfect imo.
Not feeling Owen. Duncan is described as dark-skinned. He's also a fairly young, badass swordsman, yes? It's only fair to cast a young black man. If I were in charge of casting I'd go after Donald Glover. He's kinda weird, and has a weird physicality, which is important for Dune and he has been in some sci-fi movies. I've heard that name going around.
Oldman could work as Yueh...
Hayden Cristensen for Idaho, he already has the martial arts training necessary for fluid fencing and grace, he is significantly obscure these days to not stiffle the budget for what is an important but minor character in the original book.
I think Villeneuve is looking for actors who are good at doing dark, moody shit.
I appreciate that but thats not Idaho is it. He’s a serious young man who always has time for the boy. Granted if it was series and we were to experience Duncan’s back story.
Oldman could be Thufir Hawat, or maybe Shaddam or Fenring, but definitely not Duncan. Clive Owen should not be anyone in the movie.
I was talking about Owen for Duncan and Oldman for Yieh.
Yueh*
I didn’t consider Oldman for Shaddam. God that would be great casting. So who would play Irulan, then? Someone with golden hair, but convincing as the child of Oldman?
Not sure, but she might only show up in the second film
