Am an immigrant from Jamaica. I resided to the US last year june 2023 , the overall experience living in the US is still complicated with the different culture nuances. Richmond Hill High School is a good school the faculty staff is amazing with helping children with their wants and needs, the school makes me and others feel safe and secure. What I want to be change at the school is the lunch, it because each day or week we could predict what we would have for lunch, it doesn't taste bad it's just full of oo much repetition. The best experience I had is making a friend and them treating like a normal human being and making me feel welcome. The worst part of my experience was offending someone part of the lgbtq+ it was an accident I didn't meant to offend them in any way possible. What I said was "why is he acting like a girl does he know he's a male" he started cursing at me and start calling me homophobic, it was just a misunderstanding.
I moved to Richmond Hill in May 2023 and I started my senior year there in August 2023. The school itself cares a lot about their students and pushes their culture onto them daily. They also look out for their students and their future, especially when it comes to providing the students with alternatives for their life outside of high school if they choose not to go to college so I admire that. However, I’m from New York and I also attended a very diverse school that appreciated other people’s cultures and RHHS needs to be a little more open to that. Yes multiple races go to the school but, it is a pro dominantly white institution and I can tell that most students have just assimilated to living the “Richmond Hill” life instead of exploring the lifestyles of other students. I do like that they care about the sports factor of school and allow students to get offers from schools, however, team-wise, we need to work on making sure teams get along and know how to communicate.
Richmond Hill High School is my home away from home. The admin and teachers are some of the nicest people I've ever met, and the friendships that I have made during my four years here will last me a lifetime. The student population is very diverse and welcoming, and RHHS is committed to helping students succeed at a higher level!
