Toto – Toto IV

Glitches on the stereo DSD mix. A bit loud but nice sounding (maybe bright EQ? or pre-emphasis). The 2003 SACD and I guess as well the newer 2022 which using the same Darcy Proper's 2002 DSD mastering from the original analog tapes, don't have these glitches, also less louder so you can raise even more the volume.

Seriously. This edition is astounding! Every note is crisp and clear, the bass punches straight through and the vocals sound lush. My only 'issue' is that it's mastered quite loud. I don't have the ability to check the 'dynamic range' etc but whatever, I love this edition of this classic rock / Toto album.

Always trust a good ol' TML cut pressing, this really is fabulous sounding. I never even noticed the cowbell and laughter in the background at the beginning of Africa until I listened to it here.

Superb pressing, very well balanced, great dynamics - would recommend!

As a young kid remembering seeing the birth of MTV this album is essential for any 80's gen X'r or fan of said music. The sound of this pressing is so good! Very punchy!

Unfortunately, I too have a copy that has surface noise. I do not have any loud pops in playback but hear a drop in clarity on some of the cuts. When it plays clean it sounds great.

Nah, i'll just grab one out of the $1 bin.

Someone to add in notes that it was released and given for free by Greek newspaper "Espresso".

Not sure why everyone is hot on the MFSL. Its one of the better Anadiscs, yes. However, the Anadisc period were not the best years. Its good but not fantastic like the TML originals. As far as the RSD version I think the reason for the impressiveness is it was cut hotter. Volume adjust it and you may find it not as impressive as you initially did. Loudness can fool you.

Bottom line, it isn’t complicated, the original TML is still champ imo. And yes, I have the Anadisc 200, CBS 1/2, S.C., RSD and the original.

Save some cash..go for the original.

3 records, three records with massive scratches across the record and three significant dish warps. I give up on this one. Sound was good on the tracks that didn't skip from all the scratches.
