R J Reynolds High School

R.J. Reynolds High School is located in the heart of Forsyth County and has proudly served the community of Winston-Salem since its opening in 1923.

The school fulfilled the need for a new city high school after fire destroyed Winston High School on Cherry Street. The site for the school was made possible through the generosity of Katherine Smith Reynolds Johnston.

The original school building and auditorium have been extensively renovated and, because of their architectural significance and continued contribution to public and cultural education, they are listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Reynolds is a center for creativity, inclusivity, and exploration, and has an award-winning Arts Magnet Program. Our students decide their level of arts engagement, choosing from an Arts-Infused or Arts-Aware pathway. Students choose from our 60+ arts electives.

We have an active alumni group, an award-winning PTSA, and significant involvement in, and from, the greater community.
With over 40 athletic teams, students have the opportunity to get involved each season. In addition, our home field, “The Crater” is currently under construction, and we are thrilled to soon be able to offer our student athletes their own place to showcase their talents.
