With the rest of the Don’t Worry Darling cast having the internet worrying, darling, you may not have noticed one of the most notable stars of the drama-filled ensemble, Gemma Chan (and her stellar Louis Vuitton gown) standing right there during the Venice premiere of the film. TBH, with everything that was going on, I don’t blame you.

But one person who only has eyes for The Eternals actress? Her boyfriend Dominic Cooper. ICYMI, the Stratton co-stars began dating in late 2018. The low-key couple made their first public appearance together at a British Fashion Awards afterparty in London later that same year, per Us Weekly. Since then, they’ve been feeding their fans with an endless assortment of cute couple photos on the ‘gram (exhibit A and B). In a 2019 birthday post made out to the Crazy Rich Asians star, Dominic referred to Gemma as “gorgeous girl.” (Aw, these two!)

Even more recently, in a July 2022 interview with Harper’s Bazaar UK, Gemma opened up about her ‘ship with supportive BF Dominic. “I’m really, really lucky,” the Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them star told the magazine, referring to the Mamma Mia! actor.

These two are clearly smitten with each other, and if that wasn’t clear from their comments and photos, trust body language expert Karen Donaldson. She analyzed the couple’s hand placements and gestures over the last few years and shared what Gemma and Dominic’s body language reveals about their relationship.

In a rare public appearance at Wimbledon, the pair was looking both chic and in love. “Although Dominic is looking away, his body is completely turned towards Gemma, which tells us that he’s caring and protective of her,” says Donaldson. So while his attention seems to be elsewhere, he’s still committed to making sure that Gemma is okay.

At the same time, Gemma is holding onto Dominic’s forearm, signaling emotional closeness and happiness in the relationship, explains Donaldson: “She has her body facing Dominic, which tells us that the two of them care about each other’s well-being.”

The attraction is mutual between these two.

In this image, you will notice that Gemma and Dominic’s body language mimics each other. This is known as, you guessed it, “mirroring.” When people are attracted to each other, they tend to sit or stand in the same way and copy each other’s gestures, says Donaldson. “When a couple mimics one another, it signals that their interest in each other is reciprocated.” In other words, these two are equally head over heels for one another.

Also, if you look closely, you’ll notice that Gemma exhibits open body language while looking at Dominic. “Her shoulders are back and her chest is open, which signals sexual excitement and attraction,” Donaldson adds. There’s no denying that these two are capital “H” hot for one another.

When they’re together, they’re in their own little world.

In this post Gemma shared of her and Dominic at Glastonbury Festival, the two are facing inwards. “This tells us that they make time for each other, and giving each other their full attention is important to them,” says Donaldson. These lovers are also the best of friends.

TBH, this isn’t the most couple-y image of Gemma and Dominic together. “This is more of a buddy chummy hug than a romantic one,” says Donaldson. But that’s not necessarily bad news for their bond—it simply shows that these two are really good pals in addition to being each other’s OTP.

Meanwhile, Dominic’s body language is somewhat closed off, Donaldson adds. “His hands are crossed over his chest and he’s not facing Gemma, which may show that he’s distracted at the moment.” That makes sense, and so now the real question is, what are they looking at?

This pair knows how to have fun.

In this image, it’s telling that these two enjoy the playful side of each other’s company, says Donaldson. Dominic looks like he’s about to give Gemma a “nosey,” which, ICYDK, is when someone puts their mouth over another person’s nose and breathes on them. “It’s a fun and playful gesture often shared with close friends and those in intimate relationships,” says Donaldson.

So not only is the emotional and physical attraction there, so is the platonic connection. These two like to fool around (ahem, in the PG sense), and know how to make each other laugh out loud.
