Nell Minow AWFJ.org An all-female-led production with an astute take on the world of Wall Street. Nov 4, 2021 Full Review Sarah Marshall Bitch Media The film spends too much time unfurling its central plot, and gives short shrift to its most compelling moments, which arrive when the audience is given the opportunity to understand the women who carry that plot forward. Feb 11, 2021 Full Review Kevin Maher Times (UK) Equity is a bizarre movie that manages the near-impossible feat of making a financial drama from an entirely female point of view without being in the slightest bit feminist. Rated: 1/5 Oct 10, 2016 Full Review Nikki Baughan AWFJ.org Gunn is strong as the central character, channelling the no-nonsense strength of her Breaking Bad character to put real meat on the bones of this shrewd investment banker. Nov 4, 2021 Full Review Ian Brill Battleship Pretension Equity is a fine example of how important issues are best framed in the most personal ways possible. Apr 13, 2021 Full Review Nicholas Bell IONCINEMA.com Although suffering from moments of unintentional camp thanks to some dramatic bits of dialogue, Entity manages to accomplish a lot with very little. Gareth v A well written and taut script that delivers in telling the story of feminism and Wall Street. Entertaining. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 06/22/23 Full Review Georgan G I usually enjoy psychological thrillers, and this was no exception. Nearly an all female cast, proving women can play power-hungry roles with elan. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/23/23 Full Review Audience Member Interesting subject but way too talky and ultimately boring. Hardly a thriller. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/11/20 Full Review Audience Member It is cool to see some real IPO shit in a movie... but it seems that it was all there was... not story, no art. Just equity shit. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/25/23 Full Review Audience Member The best thing this movie has got going for it is its female-dominated cast, and I admit, it is indeed a breath of fresh air to see such a strong female lead protagonist in Anna Gunn. However, it's all downhill from here. The plot starts off with some pretty intriguing questions, only for the film to shelf the whole Dynacorp controversy. It could have expanded more on this subject to shed a light on an extremely interesting tale of how a veteran with a previously strong record fell flat on her face. The characters, besides Anna Gunn's, are quite unlikeable, and forgettable in every which way. Worst of all, the film's ending leaves too much to be desired. Some have suggested that this is due to the film trying to be as realistic as possible (and indeed this ending is realistic), but there are many other movies that offer a realistic ending through a satisfying piece of story-telling. In conclusion, you can watch this movie if you're a fan of financial thrillers and you have exhausted all other A-list options such as The Big Short, Wolf of Wall Street, Billions, Margin Call, etc. to pass the time. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member It's "All About Eve" in corporate finances but closer to the real functions that is frustratingly stressful, unsatisfyingly unjustified and well-performed, mainly led by Anna Gunn, with a rhythmically tense backdrop score of extra amplification.
