99 iso and a pry tool will get this out in no time. I would avoid heat as sometimes it makes the battery swell more but if you are quick it shouldn’t be a problem.

Again, the screen is not even attached when using the iso here. Please look at the screenshot it isn’t a threat

If you look closely you'll see that the screen IS attached

It is but unless they are performing this repair in zero gravity or on the ISS the alcohol won’t find its way to the screen

This isn't the iphone 4 mate.

Where the screen is you're not going to have a problem especially with 99% ISO. And to the OP I would remove the screen fully before removing the battery. As for heat, that can be used and the card from the iFixit kit (or any other similar type of plastic card).

Add a tiny bit of ipa (a drop or two per tape) under where the tape is and use a plastic prying tool to insert underneath. Once the iPA soacks on the tape it takes very little to push up

Yeh agreed! Isopropyl alcohol - and Pry that badboy up and out!.. Be careful not to tear the battery foil cover!

I can't believe I didn't learn this trick until 2 years into my repair career. I used to dread doing batteries, and before I changed careers, I was doing them in 10-15 minutes start to finish.

from the left side right ?

also should i remove the screen before prying

I always remove the screen out of precaution because it's easy to break the flex cables while prying out the battery

If you don’t remove the screen you are risking the flex, a bad movement might rip them off. And by your question, it’s clear you don’t have experience, so it’s better for you to remove it first

I wouldn't use alcohol, it can seep under the screen creating blotches or corrode other delicate components within minutes. Best to use 90C heat only from the screen side, works without damaging components. While hot just pry the battery out, it will come out easily (use gloves).

The screen should be nowhere near when you’re using isopropanol on the adhesive. And no, isopropanol is not corrosive, this is just wrong. Alcohol will remove a battery far easier than heat, and is the accepted method of removal for many many devices, except for those where the battery is on top of the LCD and alcohol would ruin the backlight, which doesn’t apply here.

I was talking in general. I had a customer bring me phone on which they attempted removing the battery with alcohol and ruined their thousand dollar phone (Samsung). Not saying it can't be done cautiously, but why risk it when 90C heat does the job without risk. That's all.

That's the silliest idea like r*ce for liquid damage. LOL It can seep under the screen creating blotches or corrode other delicate components within minutes (even 99% alcohol has a bit of water content). Best to use 90C heat only on the screen side, works without damaging components. While hot just pry the battery out, it will come out easily (use gloves). But hey, to each their own.

Seep under the screen? Do you even see where the battery is and where the screen is? You do this with the screen out of the device

IPA even in larger quantities is unlikely to damage electronics, when the battery is disconnected there is almost 0% chance as it will evaporate before you turn the phone on again.

IPA is used to displace water after cleaning pcb's.

Don't comment where you have 0 knowledge

I've been fixing phones for over 20 year, I may know a thing or two. But hey, use what you want.

isopropyl alcohol and a little bit of heat or both, remove the screen it'll make your life easier and eliminate a risk, put the phone on a heatpad for 3-5 minutes and when you pick it up after it's decently warm, drop a little bit of alcohol besides the batteries and tilt it so that you don't have to use a lot of them in order to pull it up,it might be hard at first but once the alcohol hit all the adhesive it should be relatively easy to pull away, been doing this method for bare minimum of 50 iphone 12,never had any problems as long as you wipe the excess alcohol

Use dry cleaner or alcohol.

heat, IPA, and an iPlastix

Air chisel

Use 99% iso and a plastic pick, it will come out easy.

What is a 99iso?

u/Old_Introduction_304 avatar

99 percent alcohol

u/Old_Introduction_304 avatar

Of course not for drinking

Thank you
