Overall the movie was good. Loved the cinematography. The story line was good but could been a little clearer. The acting was decent the main characters played their roles well. The lesser characters could have more developed they had enough time with movie running 2 hours 45 minutes. I recommend it if you like sci-fi flicks which are always better on a big screen. I really wanted to see it on an IMAX screen but I missed the chance because I went way after it was released. Enjoy the movie.

Certainly a far better rendering of Frank Herbert's epic novel than David Lynch's 1984 take. The acting is fine and the technical aspects spot-on the rendering of the desert planet was excellent. But the dialog is weak at times, and Villenueve fails to completely convey the complete ecosystem Herbert's novel reveals. If I added another half star, I'd be characterizing the movie as awesome. But sorry to say, as a huge fan of Herbert's work I am, and as enjoyable as I found the film, "awesome" is not a word I'd use.
