Post Malone Brings New Country Songs To ACM Awards Debut

The Academy of Country Music Awards, also known as the party of the year, are underway in Frisco, Texas, and this year’s performances have been incredible!

One of the highlights of the night came from Post Malone, who made his ACM Awards show debut with a performance of two songs from his upcoming country album.

While Post Malone doesn’t necessarily identify as a country singer (he’s best known as a rapper and hip-hop and pop artist), Post has recently seen success as a crossover artist. His recent Stagecoach set, which covered an impressive lineup of classic country hits, garnered much attention and had fans wondering if there was a country album in his future.

Post recently released a collaboration with megastar Morgan Wallen. The two teamed up to record “I Had Some Help,” which broke records upon its release on May 10. It shattered Spotify’s single-day country streaming record with almost 14 million streams, debuted at No. 1 on the Global Daily chart and became the streaming platform’s top male collaboration debut of all time.

Fans speculated that Wallen would make a surprise appearance on stage with Post Malone to sing the new single or that he would perform one of the country covers he performed at Stagecoach.

But, Post Malone chose to perform solo during his debut and premiered two new tracks from his soon-to-be-released country album. He kept it country with his performance of “I’ll Never Love You Again, a choice that pleased diehard country music fans and stirred up more excitement about his upcoming project. He concluded with a solo rendition of his Morgan Wallen collab, “I Had Some Help. ”

Post Malone, whose real name is Austin Richard Post, taught himself guitar and started auditioning for bands as a teen. He eventually joined a heavy metal band but continued experimenting with other genres. After moving to Los Angeles, the musician connected with industry executives who helped launch his career, but he likely never anticipated becoming one of the best-selling artists of all time, with more than 80 million albums sold.

The Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) reported that the 28-year-old “has sold 13 million albums in the United States and 95 million digital singles, making him the eighth best-selling digital artist of all time.”
