Title: Censored Science: The Suppressed Evidence
Author: Bruce Malone
Major Themes: Geology, Biology, Space, Stars, Creation, Evolution, Science
Synopsis: Why is so much evidence for Creation hidden?
A couple of years ago, I was perusing the offerings on a scratch & dent book sale, in which the books were being offered at half the normal price. One of them that caught my eye was titled Censored Science. I was too late to get the damaged copy; someone else clicked through to purchase it first. However, when I told my then-18-year-old son about it, he was quite interested and decided to buy a new copy for himself. What a treasure to have on the shelves! If and when he leaves home, I may have to buy another copy so we will still have one.
As in the other book we read by Bruce Malone, Brilliant, this book is laid out in colorful two-page spreads. Each one is on a different topic. This book has to do with scientific concepts and discoveries that are not widely known, because they do not line up with the current mainstream view of science and history. There are three main divisions in the book: Biology, geology, and cosmology.
The section about biology delves into some very fascinating, little-known facts about the natural world. The vast range of variations among frogs is incredible! We were intrigued with the gears found in the legs of leafhoppers—and what about gecko’s feet? Then there is DNA itself, or the hoax of the simple cell. What a plethora of evidence for special creation!
The geology section was just as interesting. Folded mountains? In the area in which we live, we see these frequently—but how could they possibly have come into being over long ages? Of course, Mount St. Helens and its “instant geology” rates a page. Then there are the sandstone towers standing alone, the flash-frozen woolly mammoths, and unfossilized dinosaur tissue. We were constantly amazed at the discoveries and what they show us about creation and God.
We were also fascinated by the last section, “Cosmology”. What do the heavens reveal about our Creator? What evidence is there for the formation of stars—or is there really any? How could starlight have reached the earth if there was a recent creation? And the very last page: “How Science Became Censored.”
My younger children didn’t understand a lot of what I read to them from this book, although I was quite pleasantly surprised by a comment one of them made to me. While we were reading Censored Science together, a two-page spread each day, we went to a meeting in which a speaker from Creation Ministries International gave a presentation about the evidence for Creation. After that meeting, my 8-year-old told me that she understood what he had to say, because she was already familiar with the concepts from the books I had been reading to the children. My 13-year-old definitely understood what was in this book. We’ll read it again later when the younger ones have grown up some more.
