Obituary: Carolyn Maxine “Jones” Meredith of Searcy

Ms. Carolyn Maxine “Jones” Meredith, a resident of Searcy, Arkansas, departed this life on Tuesday, April 30, 2024. Ms. Meredith was born on April 19, 1946, in McCrory, Arkansas, and was the daughter of the late J. W. and Faye Woods Jones.

Ms. Meredith had attended Pumpkin Bend School and was of the Nazarene faith. She married Mr. Melvin Meredith on March 28, 1967, spending life together for 55 years before his death on May 27, 2022. She was a homemaker and in her younger years worked as a beautician. She enjoyed watching her daily soaps, working crossword puzzles, and word search books, and tending to her vegetable and flower gardens. Her love for food and cooking brought many friends and family members together like her chocolate gravy and rice pudding.

Ms. Meredith is preceded in death by her parents, J. W. and Faye Jones; her husband, Melvin Meredith; one stepson, Martin Meredith; one brother Leon Browning; and two great-grandchildren.

Ms. Meredith is survived by two sons, Elbert Meredith of Cabot, and Delbert Meredith of Beebe; one daughter, Dedra Taie and husband Dr. Farid Taie of Murphy, Texas, one step-daughter, Carol Vaughan of Beebe; two brothers, J. L. Browning and Larry Browning of Meridian, Mississippi; one sister, Patricia Nina Faye Cushman of Searcy; 16 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren, along with numerous nieces, nephews, bonus children and grandchildren.

Those honored to serve as pallbearers will be Alex Campbell, Timmy Ho, Tanner Meredith, Tyler Meredith, Wesley Meredith, Gabriel Reece, Dominque Thacker, and Cody Wilbanks.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024, at the Thompson-Wilson McCrory Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in Pumpkin Bend Cemetery.

Friends may visit at the funeral home on Saturday, May 11, 2024, between the hours of 1 p.m. to service time.
