Rita Schuette Obituary

Rita Ann (Huner) Schuette, 74, of Wauseon, passed away peacefully on Tuesday May 14, 2024. She was born on March 30, 1950, to the late Herbert John and Olga Augusta (Behrman) Huner. On August 28, 2004, she married Michael Schuette at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon where she was a member.
Rita was a teacher at Edgerton High School for 40 years where she taught Family & Consumer Sciences. She was a big fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and always made it known. Rita was an avid quilter for many years and won many awards for her quilting. Rita's passion for teaching continued as she taught quilting classes at the Quilt Foundry in Maumee.
Rita's group the "Naughty Nine" kept her going throughout the years and motivated her to relax and have fun.
She is survived by her brother, Norbert (Barbara) Huner; sister, Marci Likens; nieces, Natalie Richardson, and Leslie Bodner; many grand nieces and nephews; as well as her special sister-in-law, Marilyn Sunderman and Marilyn's daughter Dana Barahas.
She was also preceded in death by her husband Michael Schuette and her sister Wynette Stainbrook.
Funeral services will be held at 11am on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 23rd as well from 10-11a.m. at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Napoleon. A luncheon will follow in the St. Paul Lutheran Church Youth Center following the service. Memorial contributions can be directed to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Edgerton Area Foundation, and The Ohio Family, Career, and Community Leaders of America.
