At the weekend while running the muffs after a day out I noticed a lot of water coming from the gearbox housing.

I have a small 6mm (ish) hose above this area with what looks like a male to male connector in the end but this doesn't reach the hole & is blocked off.

An ideas what this is for and should it be connected?

This isn't m engine but I've drawn a line where the dangling hose is.

Your tell tale hose is behind the side cover so you wouldn’t see it if it came apart. Can’t hurt to pull the starboard side cover off and check the tell tale. A piece of debris will get caught up in the telltale, run a stiff weed wacker cord in the telltale hole while running on muffs, often that will clear up the issue. On my 2009 DF90A I only have water coming out the telltale, exhaust port(propeller) and the drain holes.

The yellow circle is where your telltale line should be.

Thanks, I will check this weekend but where you have circled is where the pipe hangs free

If this was disconnected wouldn't the speedo stop working?
You are correct. That’s why I suggested you take the side cover off and investigate. The only way you could have a functioning speedometer if the hose dangling is for the speedometer would be from a GPS/NMEA network.
