Meghan McCain Claims That The View Employees Could Get In Trouble For Being Her Friend

Between 2017 and 2021, Meghan McCain co-hosted The View. To say that McCain was often the subject of tabloid gossip during her time co-hosting The View would be a huge understatement. Additionally, many political commentators seemingly loved calling McCain out for her comments on The View.

Of course, just because McCain faced criticism from outside sources didn't inherently mean that things were rough for her behind the scenes. Sadly, however, McCain has made comments that implied that the people in charge of The View weren't on her side.

In May 2024, Meghan McCain spoke to Page Six in an interview that touched on her tenure co-hosting The View. During the resulting conversation, McCain claimed that current The View employees would be punished for being her friend.

McCain claimed that openly being friends with her could damage The View's current employees in response to a question about her former co-hosts. When Page Six's interviewer asked McCain if she was friends with any of her former co-hosts, she stated that wasn't the case.

However, McCain stated that she remains friends with some people who worked on The View behind the scenes. It was then that McCain explained why she wouldn't reveal which current The View employees are her friends.

“I don’t talk to any of the main co-hosts that I was with, but I still do have friends, that work on the show and people that I made relationships with. But I never want to say who because I don’t want them to get bullied for still being my friend."

Up until this point in the interview, McCain had only stated that she worries about her The View friends getting mistreated. However, the former co-host of The View wasn't through talking about this subject.

Instead, McCain told Page Six's interviewer that some people who worked for The View had already been mistreated for being her friend.

"Like, I don’t want them to be publicly or privately bullied. And I actually have.”

McCain also stated that she has Elisabeth Hasselbeck's phone number. However, McCain didn't say that she was close to Hasselbeck.

Meghan McCain Explained Why "There’s Not A Chance In Hell" She Would Return To The View

Given that Meghan McCain says being her friend could get an employee of The View in trouble, it makes sense she wouldn't want to return to the show. However, during McCain's May 2024 Page Six interview, she provided other reasons why she wouldn't co-host The View again.

According to what McCain told Page Six, there are several reasons why she would never co-host The View again. Unfortunately, McCain had to acknowledge to the outlet that one of those reasons is that she believed she wouldn't be welcomed back to The View.

As McCain explained during the interview, she believes, “there’s not a chance in hell” The View's producers would ever ask her to come back to the show.

Based on what McCain has said about her The View experience, it is very easy to see why she would think that she wouldn't be welcomed back to The View.

However, as anyone who is familiar with the television landscape should know, just because someone is in power today doesn't mean they will be tomorrow. As a result, it is always possible that The View may get different producers someday who would be more open to McCain.

In October 2021, Meghan McCain was interviewed by Variety. During the conversation, McCain revealed that Joy Behar inspired her to leave The View. "I didn’t know I was going to leave until my second day back from maternity leave when Joy told me that 'Nobody missed me — zero.' That was the day I decided."

However, McCain went on to explain to Page Six that there are two other reasons why she wouldn't want to return to The View. First off, McCain is happy with the life she has built for herself now.

Secondly, McCain feels like she finally started to be taken seriously in 2024, and returning to The View would diminish that.

“I’ve had kids since then. I really like my life right now and I feel like it’s taken me a long time to sort of get to a place where people are seeing me as more serious. I’m 39, I’ll be 40 in October, and there’s something about pushing 40.”

McCain also noted that people no longer talk about her being a “spoiled baby” in 2024 so she wouldn't want that conversation to start anew.

In terms of Meghan McCain's personal life, she is a married mother of two, according to an article by People. McCain is married to the conservative political commentator Ben Domenech and they have two daughters, Clover and Liberty.
