Many mothers look forward to celebrating Mother's Day with their loved ones. They get showered with love and affection from their families, eventually making them feel blessed. But for this mom, things were quite different. Elizabeth Maclay, the mom–who goes by @elizabethmaclay on TikTok–was away from her for three days. After returning, her son had an absolutely hilarious reaction when he saw his mother. The video that captured the boy's funny reaction has gone viral with over 1 million views and 1850 comments on the platform. The text overlay at the start of the video reads, "Excited for my son's reaction after being away for three days."

In the video, the mother eagerly going to open the door to her son's bedroom. She enters and turns on the light to find her son standing in the crib with a very blank expression on his face. Maclay gives him a very loving greeting, to which he does not have any response. The text overlay questions, "Why's he looking at me like he's never seen me before?" She caresses his forehead, stating, "I missed you!" After hearing this, the boy looks down, seemingly occupied with his own thoughts.

Maclay asks her disinterested son, "Aren't you excited to see me?" Even then, the boy casually looks away, with the text overlay saying, "He couldn't care less." The mother tries to get the little boy's attention by reminding him that she is his mother in case he forgets. She proceeds to ask him, "You wanna come out?" The boy gives a small shake of his head, indicating that he does not want to. The video ends with the woman sarcastically writing a text overlay that states, "Motherhood is a blessing." Maclay also joked in the caption how she would leave for a longer period the next time she went away.

People loved the boy's reaction and shared their thoughts in the comments. @brynnpowdow pointed out, "He knows who you are— he's just mad that you were gone. Mine does this after I'm not in his line of vision for two hours." Another individual, @kat.prosser, commented, "If it makes you feel any better, sometimes this reaction is them realizing you were gone for a long time and they're suddenly sad about it." @poupeekeita expressed, "This is how babies react when they are happy and don't know how to show it. That baby is very happy to see you." @berglindmarivalde said, "Children often react this way as a response to separation anxiety. It's a coping mechanism. I'm sure there are some essays on this."

Babies often have the most comedic and pure reactions to many things, especially what they see for the first time. Lo Beeston, a mom–who goes by @lobeeston on TikTok–shared a wholesome video of her 11-month-old baby's reaction to fireworks in the sky. It was the little girl's first time seeing such a spectacle and she had the cutest reaction. The mom briefly shared the look at the fireworks before turning the camera towards her daughter, who was very clearly mesmerized to see it all.
