    My first visit.
Both an indoor market and an adjoining outdoor market.
I visited them on Friday lunchtime.
The indoor market was 90% let.
The outdoor market was 5% let, perhaps Saturday will be busier.
Anyway the indoor market was ok and lots of cheap stuff as it should be.

A really lovely set of walks, three main ones from the bottom of the hill. Beautiful views overlooking the Talley valley. On a sunny day, it's a great place to have a picnic as there are benches at various intervals.

Took the dog through the woods. Pleasant views over Rotherham/Sheffield. Lovely to see the red toadstools, although we didn't see any fairies. Very relaxing enjoyable walk.

I took my young grandson to Treasure Island and was impressed by the facility. Lots of soft play areas as well as climbing and a choice of slides.
Also a good cafe, toilets and parking.
Very reasonable at just Β£1 too.

Good quality meat & vegetables sold here. Friendly stall holders & we also had a nice cup of tea & a snack at lunchtime. All very acceptable & will visit again in the near future.

I know about all of the heating bills going up for leisure centres and understand this. Really though! centre seems desperate to close the sauna and steam room with all sorts of excuses, one being that there are children in the swimming pool outside the sauna. Used the shower and was told to leave as there was a private Polo group. Hairdressers now removed leaving just one in the changing room. The pool is nice and clean. Staff generally nice. Just ridiculous telling people various excuses when you are wanting to keep your heating bills down.

Not a large place but pleasant for a green area in the centre of Rotherham. Unfortunately the wooden walkway across the pond was buried under a few inches of mud and could really do with a clean up.

The pathway along the side of the River Don is very pleasant

Spotted this on an O.S. Map and decided to have a closer look. As others have said, it's a bit neglected and the paths aren't well maintained. Disappointing.

You can’t miss Treeton Church. It stands on top of the scarp and is a well known landmark for drivers leaving the M1 and dropping down Sheffield Parkway into Sheffield. Its square tower dominates the small mining settlement around it.

There has been a church here since Saxon times and it is one of the few churches in South Yorkshire recorded in Domesday Book. Nothing remains of the Saxon church and the present building dates from the late C12th. It has been extended, altered and restored over the years. leading to what Nikolas Pevsner describes as β€œa confusing building”.

The church, apart from the top of the tower, is built from the local Rotherham Red Sandstone, which really does look red on a sunny day. The top of the tower was added later and was built from Magnesium Limestone, in marked contrast to the rest of the church.

The earliest part of the church is the nave and north aisle which were built in 1175, possibly on the earlier Saxon church. The chancel was built in the C13th along with the base of the tower, which was originally offset at the south west corner of the church. It only became part of the church building when the south aisle was completed in the C14th.

In the C15th, the nave was extended at the west end to line up with the tower. A south porch was built and the nave roof was raised with a clerestory added. The Brampton Chapel, at the east end of the south aisle dates from the C16th.

There was the usual restoration of the church in the Victorian times. The plaster was scrapped off the inside of the church, leaving the bare stone walls so much beloved by the Victorian restorers. They also removed any wall paintings and tantalising traces survive on the north chancel arch and above the lintel of the window in the south aisle.

In the back south west corner is a C13th effigy, which is one of the oldest in South Yorkshire. This is now very eroded and any shield has been removed. It has been suggested that it was Sir Christopher Talbot who was the second son of the Earl of Shrewsbury and who was Lord of the Manor of Treeton and lived at Sheffield Castle.

The high altar has pre-Raphaelite style angels painted on the front. The small reredos on the east wall has the symbols of the four evangelists. The Brampton Chapel is reached through a carved screen. The pews have been removed and it is now used as a meeting or exhibition area. The painted altar with triptych above is C19th.

It is very attractive church, set in the centre of the village and much loved by its congregation. It is open for coffee on Thursday mornings. It is usually open as part of the Heritage Open Doors.

If you want good food and drink in fantastic surroundings, this is the place to go.
The church has original woodwork and the pulpit and organ add to the ambiance. Lots of nooks and crannies, tiny doors and the possibility of stumbling across secret passageways. Absolutely worth repeat visits.
The shop is full of fascinating knicks and knacks and magical doodads. I will be back soon.
