Lionesses hero Mary Earps wants to become ‘the best’ after helping Manchester United win the Women’s FA Cup, amid talk of a summer exit.

The Red Devils beat Tottenham at Wembley to clinch the trophy for the first time in their history – but Earps is out of contact this summer – and could move on.

That would be a huge blow to United, who want to become a women’s football powerhouse and join the big three of Arsenal, Chelsea and Manchester City.

Arsenal made a bid to try and sign England No.1 Earps during last summer’s World Cup but it is understood that the Gunners have since cooled their interest.

That does not mean that Earps will necessarily remain with United, though, with several top European clubs including Paris Saint-Germain keen on signing her.

In a new interview with Sky Sports Editions, Earps has opened up about her career aims and ambitions as rumours over her future at United continue to grow.

‘On the pitch I’m super intense, super serious,’ the English goalkeeper said. ‘I want to be the best, I want to win every game.’

She added: ‘I’m just super passionate and a few of the girls have said to me that when we’re playing small sided games (in training), they’ll just listen to the stuff that comes out my mouth because its just random and kind of unfiltered.

‘It is exactly what I’m thinking. I’m very competitive, I play to win, I play hard. I don’t like to lose.

‘Its important to be yourself all the time. I think I pride myself on being a bit of a goofball but I’m just kind of a normal person who’s just trying to see how far she can go in her career and just tries to be authentically herself.’

Meanwhile, Earps, who has earned the nickname ‘Mary Queen of Stops’ and was crowned BBC Sports Personality of the Year for 2023, has revealed that she wants to raid the wardrobe of Alessia Russo – who left United on a free to join Arsenal.

Quizzed which Lionesses’ wardrobe she’d be most likely to raid, Earps said: ‘Leah’s (Williamson), Alessia’s (Russo) or (Ellie) Robuck’s. They’re the ones, they’re the stylish ones, they’re the guru’s. We are not worthy!

‘They wouldn’t come to me for style tips, none of them would, but what you see is what you get.’
