MediaTek Dimensity 8250 revealed - an upgraded Dimensity 8200 - Unbox Diaries

MediaTek Dimensity 8250 revealed – an upgraded Dimensity 8200

MediaTek’s latest offering, the Dimensity 8250, builds upon the success of the late-2022 Dimensity 8200. While the core specifications remain largely unchanged, the 8250 signifies a refinement for powerful mid-range smartphones.

The Dimensity 8250 retains the efficient 4nm TSMC manufacturing process and octa-core CPU configuration. This includes one high-performance Arm Cortex-A78 core clocked at 3.1 GHz, three more Cortex-A78 cores at 3.0 GHz,and four power-saving Cortex-A55 cores at 2.0 GHz.

The Mali-G610 MC6 GPU delivers impressive graphics processing for demanding applications and games.

Stunning Display and Storage Options

The Dimensity 8250 supports high refresh rate displays, with FHD+ panels reaching up to 180Hz and QHD+ displays reaching 120Hz for a smooth and responsive user experience.

Phones equipped with the 8250 can leverage the latest memory and storage technologies. This includes support for blazing-fast quad-channel LPDDR5 RAM up to 6,400Mbps and UFS 3.1 storage for speedy app launches and data transfers.

Enhanced Camera Capabilities

The integrated image signal processor (ISP) boasts 14-bit HDR processing and can handle high-resolution sensors like a single 320MP sensor or three 32MP sensors simultaneously. The chipset also facilitates 2x lossless zoom for capturing sharp images.

Videographers will appreciate 4K video recording at 60fps and built-in AV1 decoding at up to 4K resolution, making the chip ideal for the AV1-adopting streaming platforms. Additionally, the display adapter supports HDR10+ Adaptive technology with AI-powered SDR-to-HDR conversion and video noise reduction.

Advanced Connectivity and AI

The Dimensity 8250 integrates a 5G modem capable of downlink speeds up to 4.7Gbps. Local connectivity is well-equipped with three-band Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.3 with LE Audio support.

The MediaTek APU 580 handles AI computations efficiently, optimized for short bursts to manage thermals and power consumption.

Availability

The Dimensity 8250 is set to debut in the Oppo Reno12, launching on May 23rd.

The MediaTek Dimensity 8250 is set to offer a compelling package for mid-range smartphones, balancing performance, efficiency, and advanced features for an exceptional user experience.
