Excerpts from these three masterpieces make up the first half of this collection, and serve to tease. Taken out of their concept album context, for me they somehow lose their impact. (Perhaps I'm over familiar with the originals.) The second half of the set, made up of excerpts from arguably less successful projects, including "White Rock" and "Criminal Records" actually sounds better. No less keyboard pyrotechnics, and some excellent back up on bass and drums from his mates in Yes, Chris Squire and Alan White. Then to finish a short rhapsodic piece on solo piano ("The Palais") that stops just as you realise how good it is. Overall, a good introduction to Rick Wakeman's most prolific musical period, but it may leave you wanting the full versions of the first three works.
