The Split star Annabel Scholey has confirmed a release window for the show's two-part special.

Speaking with Digital Spy and other press at the BAFTAs on May 12, the Nina Defoe actor said the new episodes are likely to debut in the upcoming festive season.

"I think it should be Christmas," Scholey said, revealing more of the dramatic times ahead for the Defoe family.

The BBC One drama follows the lives of the Defoes and their family law firm focusing on divorce cases. Particularly, the show zeroes in on the three Defoe sisters: Hannah (Nicola Walker), the eldest who works for a rival law firm; Nina, who works for the family practice; and Rose (Fiona Button), who is a nanny.

Scholey teased "a new love interest" for Hannah, as well as a new location for the new episodes.

"Well, there is a new love interest for Hannah," she said, confirming the previously announced Barcelona setting for the scenes. "We're abroad, we're somewhere in Spain and there is a wedding."

As for Nina, Scholey explained her character "is still in a mess" but will be able to sort herself out.

"She gets herself out of the mess during the specials," Scholey said, sharing it'll be "quite refreshing" for the lawyer to turn things around.

"There's a couple of love interests," she continued, also saying that Hannah's ex-husband Nathan (Stephen Mangan) "has moved on as well".

It seems like the barrister is in "a more complicated situation", as Scholey promised drama will be on the horizon.

"There's drama, there's always drama," she said. "The three sisters are very dramatic but we're having a really good time. We're all really good mates."

The Split Special and The Split Up will both air on BBC One and the BBC iPlayer.
