What is Club Academy Scotland?

Club Academy Scotland (CAS) is the Scottish FA’s structure that defines, operates and partially funds the Academy system in this country, alongside a games programme. It governs the development of players from the age of 11 to 18. 

Clubs are assessed against set criteria and a set of Measurable Performance Outcomes (MPOs), which take into account performance in areas like domestic and international appearances for home-grown players, coaching qualifications, facilities, talent identification and sports science and medicine set-ups.

Following the auditing process, the clubs have been streamed into the following categories:

Elite Level 

Aberdeen, Celtic, Dundee United, Hamilton Academical, Heart of Midlothian, Hibernian, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, Queen's Park, Rangers, St Mirren

Performance (Progressive) Level 

Ayr United, Dundee, Dunfermline Athletic, Greenock Morton, Inverness Caledonian Thistle, Partick Thistle, Ross County, St Johnstone

Performance Level 

Livingston

Advanced Youth Level

Airdrieonians, Alloa Athletic, Elgin City, Falkirk, Montrose, Queen of the South, Stirling Albion
