There's an effort to address what some think is an excessive amount of dog waste on New York City streets and sidewalks.
A newly introduced bill would require the Department of Sanitation install dog waste bag dispensers on all city street public litter baskets. Danielle Avissar says dog waste being left on the ground in her Upper East Side neighborhood has become a big problem.
"Children are playing with it. They are bringing it home. They are bringing it in their schools. They are a very vulnerable demographic. Some have gone to the ER because of it so its spreading a lot of disease."
The city's Sanitation Commissioner Jessica Tisch seems to be on board but says she thinks the dispensers should be put on a more fixed street structure like a light or street pole because she says litter baskets move a lot.
