23 New Songs Out Today

So many artists, so many songs, so little time. Each week we review a handful of new albums (of all genres), round up even more new music that we’d call “indie,” and talk about what metal is coming out. We post music news, track premieres, and more all day. We update a playlist weekly of some of our current favorite tracks. Here’s a daily roundup with a bunch of interesting, newly released songs in one place.

CHARLI XCX – “360”

Charli XCX has shared the latest single from Brat (due June 7 via Atlantic), and it sounds nostalgic and futuristic all at once, in a uniquely Charli way. It also comes with a star-studded music video directed by Aidan Zamiri and featuring Julia Fox, Chloë Sevigny, Gabbriette, Alex Consani, Rachel Sennott, Emma Chamberlain, A. G. Cook, Hari Nef, Isamaya Ffrench, Matisse Andrews, Quenlin Blackwell, Sakura Bready, Chloe Cherry, Greer Cohen, Anna Collins, Blizzy McGuire, Tess McMillan, Salem Mitchell, Peri Rosenzweig, Richie Shazam and Niki Takesh.

ICE SPICE – “GIMMIE A LIGHT”

Ice Spice never makes us wait too long without dropping something new, and today she’s back with new single “Gimmie A Light.” This one fueled by a sample of Sean Paul’s 2002 song “Gimme The Light,” and Ice Spice ditches her usual style for something a little louder and shoutier on this one.

MEGAN THEE STALLION – “BOA”

Megan Thee Stallion is back with her third snake-themed single, “Boa.” It prominently samples Gwen Stefani’s “What You Waiting For?,” and it comes with a pretty epic video that stars Megan as a video game character. Like everything Megan’s been putting out lately, it’s a banger.

MABEL – “LOOK AT MY BODY (PT. II)” (ft. SHYGIRL)

UK pop singer Mabel teams up with UK rap/pop experimentalist Shygirl for “Look At My Body (Pt. II),” an infectious pop song that Mabel says “is about questioning the male gaze and the power of the divine feminine. I’ve often felt judged by my appearance, and I’ve let comments get the better of me. Now, I’m at a stage in my life though where I’m celebrating my body without letting it define me. I wanted to let anyone who’s ever underestimated me or judged the book by its cover know that I’m ok with them doing that now because I know who I am.”

CAMILA CABELLO – “HE KNOWS” (ft. LIL NAS X)

Camila Cabello’s new album C,XOXO comes out June 28 via Geffen/Interscope, and it’ll feature recent single “I LUVE IT” (ft. Playboi Carti), as well as the new Lil Nas X collaboration “He Knows.” Produced by Daniel Aged and El Guincho, it’s a chaotic, catchy pop song.

OSO OSO – “ALL OF MY LOVE”

Oso Oso’s fifth album is on the way, and while most details are TBA, they did just share new single “All of My Love.” It’s a breezy, sunny power pop track and it’s got us very excited to hear more.

NIGHTTIME – “KEEPER IS THE HEART”

Nighttime released Keeper Is The Heart last year, and now they’re sharing the previously unreleased title track, a beautiful and intricate psychedelic folk song.

PAUL WELLER – “NOTHING”

Paul Weller’s new album 66 is out May 26 (his 66th birthday) and he’s just shared the lovely, lightly psychedelic “Nothing” was co-written with Madness’ Suggs McPherson.

JORDANA x PAUL CHERRY – “MY IDOL”

“I really love this song,” Jordana says of her new single with Paul Cherry. “Paul and I wrote it in 2022 when we first ever worked together. I was a superfan (still am) and was so intimidated by him because of how much I look up to him as an artist (guy not so much). But the more I got to know him the more awesome he got. He was suuuuch a dick that first time. That’s actually what this song is about! Don’t befriend your idols! They only let you down. Anyway, he is now someone I call a best friend! All jokes aside, we are both really proud of what this song turned into from the demo version.”

FRUIT BATS – STARRY-EYED, IN STEREO

Says Fruit Bats’ Eric D Johnson: “In early 2022, when we embarked on a national tour in support of the Sometimes a Cloud… compilation, our longtime sound guy / best bud / spiritual advisor Nathan Vanderpool thought it might be a cool idea to run some proverbial “tape” at any venue that could provide such a thing. In the scattered opportunities when we could, we did…and that directive then ran over into the A River Running to Your Heart tour last year, too. These songs are from a random assortment of shows in a wide spectrum of cities. A different vibe with each song and each night—very much how tour kinda feels… It’s a nice little memento of a couple of crazy and often magical years of live shows.”

DORA JAR – “SHE LOVES ME”

Dora Jar is back with her first new music of 2024, an alt-pop track she says is “an ode to the girl I wish I could be.”

RÓISÍN MURPHY – “THE HOUSE (SYSTEM OLYMPIA REMIX)”

“I’ve known System Olympia for a couple of years having reached out directly to her because I fell in love with her music,” Róisín Murphy says. “We have collaborated on coming music for her project and she put together an incredible DJ mix for my BBC 6music residency and curation last year. She’s a producer and songwriter of immense class, her work is deeply funky and sexy and cool. She’s Italian with all to cool stuff that goes along with that, she’s a sister.” Hit Parade Remixes is out May 24.

STEVE EARLE – “YER SO BAD” (TOM PETTY COVER)

Petty Country: A Country Music Celebration of Tom Petty is out in June, and following Dolly Parton’s take on “Southern Accents” is Steve Earle’s rendition of “Yer So Bad.”

CIRCUIT CIRCUIT – “THEY’LL BUILD A STATUE FROM YOUR ASHES” / TASTEOFINK. – “TEETH”

Circuit Circuit follow last year’s Body Songs EP with a split with Nashville’s tasteofink. CC offer up a delightfully bizarre dose of math/sasscore, while tasteofink. deliver some caustic metallic hardcore.

REMI WOLF – “TORO” & “ALONE IN MIAMI”

Remi Wolf’s sophomore album Big Ideas is out in July, and she’s shared two more tracks from it. “I wrote ‘Toro’ and ‘Alone in Miami’ in the same week of sessions and in my mind they have always been intended to be listened to back to back,” she says. “I wrote both songs with my friends Ethan Gruska and Jack Demeo in LA in between tours in early 2022. To be frank, ‘Toro’ is a song about having sex in a hotel, and ‘Alone in Miami’ is a song about the week I spent alone in Miami during Art Basel – and is quite literally a detailed and accurate description of what happened while I was there. These two songs showcase the sonic breadth of this album – and you can’t put me into a box bitch so don’t even try.”

TEE GRIZZLEY – “SWEAR TO GOD” (ft. FUTURE)

When you’ve got Future opening up your song with “Fuck your album, shit ain’t slapping like my mixtape,” you know this is gonna be a good one.

BRENNAN WEDL – “SCORPIO”

Nashville-based singer-songwriter Brennan Wedl has shared another single for Kill Rock Stars, the country-inflected “Scorpio.”

MOOSECREEK PARK – “SHEEP”

Long Island emo band MooseCreek Park’s new single makes all kinds of unexpected twist and turns throughout its three-minute runtime, going from emo at its catchiest and most anthemic to screamy/noodly to a slow/clean bridge to a gang-vocal coda. Good stuff.

TRAVIS – “RAZE THE BAR” (ft. CHRIS MARTIN & BRANDON FLOWERS)

Scottish post-Britpop vets Travis have shared another taste of L.A. Times, and this one features Coldplay’s Chris Martin and The Killers’ Brandon Flowers and it was written about the now-closed NYC bar Black & White Bar. “If you played a show at Irving Plaza or Webster Hall, chances are you ended up at Black and White till the wee small hours,” says Travis’ Fran Healy. “One of the owners, Johnny T, looked after so many artists and bands over the years. If that bar could talk, what a story it would tell.”

TWOWAYRADIO – “SAY NO”

“Say No” is the new single from NYC band Twowayradio, and it was produced by Walter Schreifels, whose band Quicksand also sounds like an influence on the song’s soaring, kinda-shoegazy post-hardcore. They play a single release party on May 17 at Main Drag in Brooklyn.

SOPHIE POWERS – “WOAH!! FT. KETS4EKI

Sophie Powers announced a new EP, Glitch, and shared the frenetically-paced “Woah!!” from it, which you can read more about here.

CONWAY THE MACHINE – SLANT FACE KILLAH

This one snuck up on us so we didn’t have time to write a proper review but Conway the Machine put out a new album today, featuring Stove God Cooks, Larry June, Method Man, Flee Lord, Swizz Beatz, Joey Bada$$, Jay Worthy, TF, 2 Eleven, Ab-Soul, Raekwon, and more. It’s exactly the kind of gritty boom bap revival you expect from Conway, and great as ever.
