Happy first Monday in May to all who celebrate! The 2024 Met Gala is officially here, which means it's time to embrace your inner critic and get ready to enjoy fashion's biggest night. While this year's exhibit is "Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion"—which explores four centuries of archival pieces in innovative, multi-sensory formats—the theme of the gala itself is "The Garden of Time," based on a short story by J.G. Ballard that explores humanity's relationship to creation and destruction. We can only imagine all the magical ways that stars and designers will interpret this, and we're sure to get at least a few history-making fashion and beauty looks on the Met steps tonight.
With an iconic lineup of co-chairs—Zendaya, Jennifer Lopez, Bad Bunny, and Chris Hemsworth, to be exact—plus countless other celebrities certain to show up (will Taylor Swift, Anne Hathaway, or Rihanna make appearances?), tonight will absolutely be one to remember.
Read on for all the must-see fashion moments from the 2024 Met Gala, from ethereal innovations to iconic archival pulls and everything in between.
Zendaya
Fresh off an exciting press run of tennis-themed looks to promote Challengers, Zendaya kept the style momentum going on the Met Steps. The 2024 Met Gala co-chair arrived in a blue one-shoulder Maison Margiela couture gown featuring intricate 3D leaves and berries, which she paired with a feathered fascinator and a Clara Bow-esque beauty look.
Zendaya (Part Two)
Lest you think one look would be enough for Zendaya on her co-chair night, she walked the carpet again hours later in a black archival gown from Givenchy's spring 1996 couture collection, which she paired with a colorful bouquet-inspired headpiece that Philip Treacy designed for Alexander McQueen spring 2007.
Jennifer Lopez
Jennifer Lopez has been a style icon for decades, so it’s no surprise that her 2024 Met Gala look was one to remember. The co-chair arrived in an architectural sheer custom Schiaparelli dress featuring sparkly silver embroidery, dramatic shoulders, and a circular train.
Ariana Grande
Continuing her streak of Glinda-themed looks ahead of the Wicked movie, Ariana Grande arrived at the 2024 Met Gala in a custom Loewe gown featuring a mother-of-pearl bodice and a luxurious pleated skirt. Her fluttery eye makeup and signature ponytail were equally stunning.

The Met exhibit's "Sleeping Beauties" theme reimagines how to present many archival pieces that are now too fragile to sit on the body, but Kendall Jenner's Met Gala look did the opposite. She arrived in an intricate, sparkly Givenchy 1999 look designed by Alexander McQueen, which was originally presented on a mannequin but just so happened to fit her.
