John Cena's Former Trainer Explains How He Knew WWE Star

Ohio Valley Wrestling founder Danny Davis knew immediately that John Cena was going to be a massive star in the wrestling world.

Prior to his iconic debut match against Kurt Angle on SmackDown in 2002, Cena honed his craft in OVW, which was used as the feeder territory to the main roster at the time. Part of the legendary class that also featured Randy Orton, Batista and Brock Lesnar, Davis has revealed that Cena made a lasting impression immediately.

Speaking with News4Jax, Davis recalled his memories of working with a young Cena and how the future WWE legend had already set himself up for success:

“Five minutes after I was introduced to John Cena, I knew he had it because, a lot of guys who relocate and come to a different city, they need help like finding an apartment or just anything. John had already found an apartment and set himself up, and he knew where the local gym was for him to work out. All he had to do was just show up at OVW. I did not have to babysit him, not one bit.”

Cena last appeared for the company on the Raw after WrestleMania, where the Hollywood star competed and won an impromptu match. Looking to wind his career down in the near future, Cena recently detailed when he thinks his final run will take place.

John Cena Is A Huge Fan Of AEW Star

Much like the verterans were vital in helping Cena get to the next stage of his career, the 16-time World Champion regularly does the same for those in WWE and in the wider world of wrestling to give back and share his experiences in the wrestling world. One AEW star recently revealed that John Cena is a big fan and reached out to compliment them on their work.
