@thomas-neemann First of all I can confirm as a new user (deleted config files) there is no Workbench combobox for the user to select a workbench. But if I was submitting a bug report it would be much more serious than that. As a new user they would be presented with the following toolbars disabled:

Code: Select all

File
Edit
Clipboard
Workbench
Macro
View
Individual views
Structure
Help
Part Design Helper
Part Design Modelling
Maybe it's just me but I would have thought a unit test for the absolute minimum enabled children of the main window (Menus, Toolbars, sub windows etc) would be one of the first things to test for.

Code: Select all

OS: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) (X-Cinnamon/cinnamon)
Word size of FreeCAD: 64-bit
Version: 0.22.0dev.37243 (Git)
Build type: Release
Branch: main

Locale: English/United Kingdom (en_GB)
Installed mods:
  * sheetmetal 0.4.13
  * Design456 0.0.1
  * CfdOF 1.24.8
  * Assembly3 0.12.0
  * fasteners 0.5.20
  * freecad.gears 1.1.0

Thanks for the information. I suspect there are incompatibilities with leftovers from previous versions. I will test it with a freshly installed system and report back here

can it have to do with xfce?

Workaround in Settings: load No workbench at start

I don't think so. Most probably with your config files. Make sure to remove them all. Re-installing FC isn't enough. ;)
