Jefferson Hack

Jefferson Hack (b. 1971) is a curator and creative director who is most well known as the founder of Dazed, AnOther, Another Man, and NOWNESS.

In 1991 at the age of 19 Hack founded Dazed & Confused with photographer Rankin while a student at the London College of Printing. Early cover stars profiled by Hack included Björk, Thom Yorke and David Bowie. In 2001 Hack launched fashion and lifestyle bi-annual AnOther Magazine which has featured cover stars including Solange, Natalie Portman, Naomi Campbell, Tilda Swinton, Saoirse Ronan, Jodie Foster, Ruth Negga, Marion Cotillard and Scarlett Johannson.

In 2005 Hack launched men’s style bible Another Man. Cover stars have included Ben Whishaw, Joaquin Phoenix, Harry Styles, Cillian Murphy, Keith Richards, Ezra Miller, Skepta, Tom Ford, David Beckham and Willem Dafoe.

In 2006 Hack launched dazeddigital.com, later launching anothermag.com in 2009. Hack co-founded NOWNESS in 2010, an independent video channel championing the next generation of video artists.

In 2015 Hack curated Movement in partnership with Sadlers Wells which was a unique series of short films and performances which united the worlds of fashion and dance. Hack has edited multiple books including Star Culture (Phaidon Press, 2000); Another Portrait Book (Steidl 2009); Another Fashion Book (Steidl, 2009); Another Art Book (Steidl, 2010); Dazed and Confused: Making It Up As We Go Along (Rizzoli, 2011), Another Man: Men’s Style Stories (Rizzoli, 2014) and We Can’t Do this Alone: Jefferson Hack the System (Rizzoli, 2016).
