5/8/2024 2:06:12 PM

Landon Mokris and Caden Krystofiak walk away with the top awards in SLIAC Baseball for the 2024 season while Parker Murrow and Matt Downs also take home individual recognition.

Mokris, a senior at Greenville University, was selected as the SLIAC Player of the Year. The slugger led the league in batting average, home runs, and runs batted in during conference play. In 18 games he hit .479 with 13 home runs and 41 RBI while slugging 1.127. The power hitter is also just one home run shy of the SLIAC single season home run mark of 19. He is the first Panther to win the award since Travis Ralls in 2017.

This year's top pitcher was Caden Krystofiak. The Spalding University hurler was 4-1 in six starts against SLIAC opponents with a 2.04 earned-run average. He struck out 42 batters over his 35.1 innings pitched and held opponents to a .172 batting average. Krystofiak is the second consecutive Golden Eagle to win the award following Caleb Collins last year.

Parker Murrow, from Webster University, was chosen the SLIAC Newcomer of the Year. The freshman hit .422 over his 18 conference games with 3 home runs and 24 RBI. He finished with 27 hits including 11 doubles and slugged .734 during conference play while striking out just twice and walking 13 times for a .512 on-base percentage. He follows Evan Evola in 2022 as the latest Gorlok to win the award.

The 2024 SLIAC Coach of the Year is Matt Downs from Spalding University. Downs led the Golden Eagles to a 16-2 conference mark and the program's first outright SLIAC regular season title. This is the fourth time in his career he has won the award.

The final award is the Team Sportsmanship award which goes to Principia College for exemplifying the virtues of sportsmanship on and off the field this season.
