About
“Kinks Shirt” is the fourth track on Matt Nathanson’s 2013 eighth studio album, Last of the Great Pretenders. This song is about a waitress at San Francisco’s Toast Eatery, a restaurant Matt and his team ate at nearly every day while working on his eighth album. He “fell in love” with her, and decided to pay homage to her in song. He thought she would never hear it, and that he would be able to go back to that restaurant and continue to see her. But now, she knows that it’s about her, and Matt now jokes about how he can’t go back there anymore.
